Who would you cast for "The Dark Knight Returns"?

Aragorn

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
This would be my cast for 6-7 years down the road. Might be able to double for either a feature film or a TV series.

I like your Batman, Joker, Lana Lang (what an improvement over Smallville!), Superman (great idea :bolian:) and Catwoman. Tho there are a lot of possible Catwomen out there...

BATMAN: Mel Gibson

THE JOKER: Micheal Keaton

COMMISIONER GORDON: Nick Nolte

TWO-FACE: Pierce Brosnan

SUPERMAN: Ben Affleck

ALFRED PENNYWORTH: James Cromwell

CATWOMAN: Sela Ward

GREEN ARROW: Kurt Russell

MUTANT LEADER: Vin Diesel

I like the cast. the only one I'm not sure about is Batman. In terms of look I think Brad Johnson would make a good older Bruce Wayne.

Aragorn, you do realize you just cast Superman and Lois Lane as Batman and Lana Lang? Not that I'm complaining, but my brain just exploded!

Batman - Tom Selleck

The Joker -Michael Massee

Alfred - Peter O'Toole

Catwoman - Anette Benning

Two-Face - Robert Redford

Jim Gordon - Stacy Keach

Superman - Adam Baldwin

Robin - an unknown

Well, six or seven years down the road, things change. Perhaps these actors might change in a lot of ways six or seven years later. They might even be dead. Who knows.

I think as much as I like The Dark Knight Returns, and that it could be a pretty spectacular movie if done right, I'm not so sure if I'd actually want to see an adaptation any time soon, especially with the way Batman is going now. And yes, I know Aragorn said six-to-seven years later, but I would really want to see how things go down with Nolan's Batman first, and the direction WB intends to take the character from there. Who knows, maybe a Dark Knight Returns adaptation might be exactly what the doctor ordered after Nolan's take is done, but the question is, where do you go from there?

I don't know about any of you, but I certainly don't have any inclination to see an adaptation of The Dark Knight Strikes Again providing that Dark Knight Returns does well.

i wouldn't want to see Miller's GODDAMN BATMAN! anywhere near a multiplex.

and Adair Tishler seems a tad too young for Robin, even in six or seven years. isn't she like 7 now?

^ Her IMDB profile says she's 12. In six years she'll be old enough to vote and buy cigarettes. Granted, usually it's the 30-year-olds who play teenagers in Hollywood... :p

^Maybe twenty years ago in Burton's take, he would have been great. Now? He's a bit on the heavy side, a la William Shatner. It's kind of the reason why I understand why Shatner isn't in the new Star Trek movie -- he looks so different, he'd be like Grandpa Kirk and not the young, daring, capable Starfleet Captain that we remember. Baldwin would need to tone up a bit, or at least lose some weight.

*Gee, I am really harping on people's weight lately. I must have an issue with fat people all of the sudden.

Wait, are we talking about the Batman from the graphic novel by Frank Miller? If I haven't misunderstood then I'd say Baldwin would definitely have to lose some weight and tone up, but from what I remember of "Returns" Batman was older and not in the kind of shape we've seen younger incarnations.

I like Baldwin as an older brooding, bitter, cynical, and meaner, Batsy which I think fits the character from the "Returns" trilogy.

Well, I would agree that Baldwin fits the older brooding, bitter, cynical and meaner Batman well (that's the impression I get from him in interviews at least, so he has that innately down pat) but yes, while the Batman of The Dark Knight Returns is a bit out of shape and old, Baldwin seems a bit...overly shapely. Meaning, he'd need to drop some weight.
