Who win Shadows VS Dominion or Borg???

I liked B5, but for me the poor special effects took me right out of the story in a lot of places. I think DS9 did a much better job helping me suspend my disbelief in that area. Also the gratuitous mystic philosophy of B5 turned me off a bit. However, the stories were just as epic as what we saw on DS9, and B5 played things less safe than DS9 did - which was a point in its favour.

I never understood this knock on B5s SFX, they were the prime fillet of CGI of their time. S1 was a bit rough, but... Maybe it's the "Cartoony" aspect of the CGI (I personally enjoyed that part of the SFX, it made things seem more alien). As far as Gratuitous Mystic Philosophy, I have to point at the Profits in DS9 and ask how B5 was more gratuitous? At any rate, like I said, I do adore both shows.

Since it was a new, original universe they could do almost whatever the hell they wanted.

Basically what you are doing is judging a book by its cover so you really can't judge the show at all on that basis.

anyways in my view the graphics where fine especially for that era.

The Shadows are a bit stupid, no real strategy behind their attacks. If the Borg organise well enough, with their sheer numbers they would eventually adapt and destroy the Shadows. The Dominion won't last long in a fight against either.

Well, I'm judging it after having seen every single episode, so obviously the cover didn't stop me from reading and enjoying the book. The FX were 'pretty' and perhaps large in scope, but not nearly as well done overall as DS9.

And I did like the show. It's just, like I said, it seemed overindulgent when it came to the whole mysticism thing. DS9 did have mystic aspects too with the Prophets angle, but not to the same degree. Plus, I didn't particularly like that aspect about DS9 either, especially near the end of the series.
