Who will play Mitchell, Piper, Alden, Kelso and Smith?

ACE

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
These characters were present after Kirk took command of the Enterprise from Captain Pike and were featured in the second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

Any mention of these characters being present in the new film?

If so, who would be good candidates to portray them?

Some who post here would like to see Mitchell in it and have chimed in on who would be a good choice for the role.

Besides Mitchell, Piper, Alden, and Kelso, I find it odd that as far as I know there has been absoultely no speculation about Number One, either. It would be somewhat odd if Pike is captain of Enterprise in XI and she's not in it. OK, she could be on shore leave during the movie or something, but hey.
Of course, heck, Pike may not even be in the movie when push comes to shove.

This is all assuming the Story takes place sometime between Kirk taking command and WNMHGB.

I would love to see Gary Mitchell have a pretty big part in this. Dr. Piper maybe should be there, but I think McCoy could be included easily by a throw-away line such as "Dr. Piper could fill in for me if I need to go _____" (screenwriter: please fill in the blank for me.)

Alden, Kelso, and Smith (or was it Jones? ;)) if included, will be played by no-names. I hope they include Smith...she was a cutie! (The actres, Andrea Dromm, played the Nanny in one of my favorite cold-war dark comedies, 'The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming')

The only one of these I see possibly having a large role will be Gary Mitchell, and exactly how large a role that is will help to guide what kind of actor will play him -- a no-name bit actor, a semi-familiar TV actor, or a promising young screen actor.

I hope that no 1 will be in it and she gets a name. I also hope Yoeman Colt will be in it.

"The Cage" happened 12 years earlier she might have gotten her own command(ship or starbase) years ago.

I doubt Piper, Smith and Alden will even be seen in the film. And if they are the roles will be extremely small. Kelso might be there but probably in a small role. There's a bigger chance Mitchell will have a bigger part.

Okay, she hasn't acted much in the past few years, but she (with the advancing of age) really looks, today, like I'd expect "Number One" to have looked...

On the other hand, if this is set more during the regular TOS era (after WNMHGB), which would justify that possibly-fake casting sheet, then we could also speculate about characters like Lt. Bailey or Kevin Riley. I'm definitely hoping that Mitchell is in there, during any pre-WNMHGB timeframe, because he's demonstrated to be Kirk's best friend. If it's in the WNMHGB timeframe, I wouldn't mind seeing Kelso, who I thought was a pretty interesting character, but the others really don't matter much to me.

I don't know why, but I really want to see a Stargate cast member in this movie.
Michael Shanks or David Hewlett as Gary Mitchell (probably too old though), or maybe Don S. Davis as Dr. Piper.
Gary Jones would make an awesome Kelso!

I don't know why, but Kevin Riley was one of my favorite TOS characters. He seemed to be a very likable kind of guy. Too bad they gave him larger roles only in 'The Naked Time' and 'Conscience of the King'.

I would love to see the character of Riley get a nod in this film.

Gary Mitchell: I agree, Ron Livingston would be cool. I would have said Ben Affleck (don't laugh) but ONLY if Matt Damon had played Kirk.

Piper: Donnelly Rhodes, of course. :D

Alden: Lennie James

Lee Kelso: Connor Trinneer

Colt: A Barbie doll :p

Number One: Claudia Christian

Well, Claudia hasn't held up NEARLY as well as Connie Sellica has... and that whole "shave off the eyebrows and paint new ones on" thing she's got going on now is just creeeeeeepy. Claudia used to be just tremendously hot, too... (sigh)

Actually, if he hadn't already played a role... I agree, Conner Trinear would have been PERFECT as Lee Kelso. But I HATE the Trek "limited gene pool casting pool" that we've gotten used to over the years. So I have to vote "no" unless we somehow establish that he really IS Trip, reincarnated... ;)

Maybe Lee is the cousin of whatever generation of Charles Tucker exists in the 23rd century. :D

OTOH, didn't Lee spend most of his early life in an orphanage? Maybe he *is* the Charles Tucker of his time and doesn't even know it... (assuming 'Lee Kelso' is the name his adoptive parents gave him)

Heh, I was gonna say the same thing, but I was afraid I'd be laughed at. Shows how much I know. :p
