Who was the best one-off villain from the original series?

nagyvezír

Ensign

I understand why they chose to bring back Khan as opposed to another one-time character for Star Trek II, because his motives for revenge were very clear and easy to incorporate into a film, but if you were to go back in time and suggest another one-off villain from the original series be made the antagonist in a Star Trek film, who would it be?

For me, it would be Charlie X. My idea is somewhat similar to TWoK — eventually Charlie X's powers become strong enough that he kills the Thasians, escapes and goes after Kirk for letting them take him. I wouldn't want this film to be made now, but it would've probably been a better more than the insomnia cure that was "Star Trek: the Motion Picture" or "Star Trek IV: Save the Whales".

Instead of Charlie X, another idea that's quite similar would be that Kirk didn't really kill Gary Mitchell in Where No Man Has Gone Before, he just wounded and disfigured him, which makes him seek out Kirk and Spock for revenge.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Just don't disfigure the face.

Didn't they already do that one in an X-Men comic book crossover?
I liked him, but I think it's a little too Q at this point. Then again, if you're talking about bringing him back before TNG was created, that makes more sense.

In David Byrne's photo comics, Kirk returns to Delta Vega to face-off against Mitchell again.

Kor should have been the Klingon antagonist in STVI:TUC. Of course, Christopher Plummer had greater star power.

I always thought they should do a follow up to the Iotians in "Piece of the Action." Their society is now a hybrid of space-faring mobsters. The young kid who helped Kirk and Spock "make the hit" on Kracko's is now an adult. His nickname is "Babe", since that's what Kirk called him. And now he wants his "cut" that was promised him, a piece of Federation action. He's either pirating civilian cargo vessels or raiding Federation star bases or something like that.

He immediately bitch slaps Kirk. :techman:;)

I really like Ansara in general, but for TOS I have to give the edge to Colicos.
