Who wants to See The New Movie in 3D

With all the new movies coming out in 3D, as of late, who would like to see the new movie in 3D or can you think of any ep's from any of the past shows that would be awesome in 3D as well?

if not the whole episodes, the space battles in DS9 episodes like Way of the Warrior, Sacrifice of Angels etc would have been great in 3D.

There are numerous patents awaiting someone who can invent a better pair of glasses for the 3D experience.

I don't think I'd see one for that reason--the glasses are a pain, slip, the image is sometimes overlapped.

IMAX is one thing, 3-D is another.

Whenever I've used 3D glasses (usually at places like Disney) I tend toward motion sickness. So no...I wouldn't want to see this film in 3D...unless they improve the glasses.

^^ :guffaw:

I've seen Monster House, Nightmare before Christmas, Meet The Robinson's and Journey to the Center of the Earth in D3D.

IMO, the CGI D3D films looked fantastic! The live action "Journey...", not so good but not as bad as the classic 3D. I probably would go see a 3D version of ST, just to see how it looked. If it was unimpressive as JtoCotE was, I could get my money back.

We could also put a few puppies in it, maybe a few kid stars from the disney ch, and maybe hanna montana for good luck :rommie:

It really has to be shot for 3D for it to work, I think, like Coraline, for example. Arbitrarily slapping 3D onto it probably wouldn't work.

That's what I thought too, but I talked to Joe Dante awhile back and he saw a test for SINGING IN THE RAIN where they scanned a scene from the movie in, then recreated the left-eye view in the computer. He said it was pretty damned good, a lot further along than you'd think, like it wouldn't be the colorization thing where you had years of total shit before they got decent at it.

Lots of folks are working on this now, but I don't know if the curse of the glasses will always hang over stereoscopic 3D.

At the very least, in IMAX. Maybe not 3D, but it would be nice to have it as an option, perhaps for the second or third time I see it.

agreed. ive seen movies on imax that werent made specifically to be shown in 3-d and they looked terrible.

I'd be for it. Maybe do it like how they did Superman Returns. Have selected scenes be in 3-D.

By the way, regardless of what you ultimately thought of SR, SR in 3D was pretty awesome.

I don't have binocular vision (I can only use one of my eyes at a time), so any those 3D type movies and tricks don't work on me at all.

Yeah. Since the last time I tried seeing a movie in 1-D I slid out of my seat and couldn't get myself back up off the floor.

That must make day-to-day getting around interesting. No depth perception, then?

I hadn't thought about that, but I've heard quite few people complain of motion-sickness from playing certain games featuring high-resolution 3D graphics, so that would follow for 3D movies -- probably even more pronounced, viewing on a big screen?

I've never been all that enamored of 3D movies, personally, but if they were to make a 3D movie of Star Trek, I probably wouldn't turn down a chance to have a look, just for novelty's sake.

The biggest problem with 3-D tech is LIGHT. Most standard movie projectors use a lamp that SHOULD be bright enough to pull off polarized 3-D but unfortunately, many theater owners go on the cheap with lower-power lamps.

The newer all-digital theaters are generally better equipped to pull off the more sophisticated 3-D of polarized lens tech, but, unfortunately, since not ALL theaters are either digital or, for that matter, willing to spend for the brightest possible projections, the red/cyan tech has been used more frequently. Of course, this fucks with the actual on-screen colors and there is a LOT of ghosting involved.

Robert Rodriguez in his commentary for the generally-nicely-done Spy Kids 3-D mentions that, until that day comes, he has to stick with the red/cyan scheme. But he has digitally STORED all the parts of the film so that when it becomes feasible to use better 3-D tech (read: polarized), he's ready to re-render all the 3-D in that format. Very forward thinking Robert. :techman:

so is there any star trek ep's or moments you would love to see in 3D? I know for me it would have to be most of the battles of DS9 or maybe Wolf 359
