Who should voice the USS Enterprises computers?

A. It can't be a male voice because the Enterprise herself is a LADY.

B. I go with Kate Mulgrew.

I distincly remember that there was a male computer voice in trek at least once. I think it was in TMP.

Why doesn't someone just take all Majel Barrett-Roddenberry dialogue that can be found and come up with a synthesized version? I mean, that way we could both have the voice we all know and love, while still sounding like a computer.

sythsized or sampled Majel Barrett?

Johnnymuffintop,
same question here for you to answer.

I'm suggesting getting as much reference material as possible and creating an emulator, not just using what existing audio there is.

Also, I think no matter who it is, it should have a GlaDos sort of computer sound. Sure, its the future, but I still think a computer should sound "not quite human" (no pun intended referring to the film I love so much).

How about this? Instead of just a actress doing a voice-over, let's pull an idea from another Gene Roddenberry show and have a full computer image like Andromeda Ascendant. It the only thing about that show I actual liked. I'm not suggesting a uber-battle droid, but a hiring a actress who would be the personification of the ship's computer. What do you think?

Anyone think Brent Spiner should do it? He's got the congenial artificial voice down perfect already, and none of this pesky aging inappropriately for the age.
I think he would be good, but I think my choice would be Marina Sirtis, not only for her connection to Majel, but her tone is about right.

Why not, we could say they extracted hips personality from B4 and made him the Enterprise's new computer. (Makes as little sense as his "takeover" from Countdown.)

More likely would be if Starfleet made their computers sound like him to honour his actions in Nemesis.

Accept no substitute...
