who knows this plant?

during an ikebana class my mom came across this leaf. We suspect it to be a sort of maple but we aren't sure.
Does anyone happen to know this plant? (Unfortunately, that one leaf is all we have. It measures 23 cm / a bit less than 9 inches including the stem)

I know nothing about botany- it's just what came up from a google search for three lobed maple leaf

thanks for the swift replies! Jarilla is an interesting plant- I've never heard of it before. The leaves look indeed very similar but it's a herbaceous plant and ours is a tree. But I'll definitely try to get Jarilla seeds. It's a lovely plant!

Acer sempervirens is propably the solution of our mystery. Both my mom and I are certain we've seen that plant before but can't for the lives of us recall where. Presumably in some park or botanical garden.
