Who is this "Hersey" signing TMP set design sketches?

Browing through The Art of Star Trek looking for some inspiritation, I stumbled upon at least two Phase II/TMP sketches signed by someone named "Hersey". On pages 160/161, we see sketches of the bridge and main engineering (with quite an interesting engine layout). "Hersey 4/78". Any idea who this is, since Google doesn't list even one Hersey linked to Star Trek in any way....

^^Hm. Those are on p. 162-3 in my edition.

I would assume that Hersey was a production illustrator working on the early stages of the movie. I tried searching IMDb for Herseys who worked as illustrators or artists around that time, but with no success.

Maybe Rick Sternbach might know who this individual is, since he also worked in the ST-TMP art department?

Might have been someone working with Bob Abel's company, not on the Paramount lot. There were a number of artists who contributed material early on who were not at Paramount for the pre-TMP work, and there were folks from other facilities who did art after TMP was announced and our official art department was activated. Not my idea of a centralized command, but I was an inexperienced grunt back then. :)

Maybe ask Andy Probert. I know a number of illustations foir TMP were credited to him that weren't hsi work. He might know who it is.

Might have been a guy involved in the Phase II pre-production, maybe? Several of those sets were used and upgraded for TMP, IIRC.

^^No, according to the book, the illustrations are concepts for the feature-film upgrades of the Phase II sets. Rick is probably right that it's someone from an outside contractor hired for the film.
