Does anyone else think that the Japanese guy in the temple is the Others' current leader, replacing Ben after he left? I figure Richard can never be the leader, only advisor, so this guy would make the most sense.

Thoughts?

He's the Captain from the Black Rock.

I thought The Other's had made NotLocke their leader last season?

Hmmm, that's a good point. So what did they do for the three years while Locke was gone?

Are these guys even the others? Are they the Other other others? Does Ben even know about them?

*head explodes*

Ben definitely mentions 'my people at the Temple' a few times. He told Rousseau, Karl, and Alex to head for the Temple when the Freighter people came.

Plus, Richard brought young Ben to the temple. He must have some memory of it.

Also, Cindy was seen with the Others before.

I don't know why they were split up though... why did the fake Locke only command a handful of them?

What makes you think he was the captain of the black rock?

Sorry, I should have preceeded that sentence with "My guess is..." :alienblush:

The Black Rock was a British ship.

How do we know that? I missed it.

I have a feeling that there will be an entire hour devoted to the origins of the Black Rock. I'm guessing Richard was onboard, and it will be part of his backstory. After re-watching season 1, and being reminded of Claire's dream when all the survivors were on "The Black Rock", even before we were introduced to the ship, I'm guessing it is going to play a big part in the story.

Though this is Lost and I am probably way off target.

And when they were auctioning off the log of the first mate on the Black Rock it was written in English and the auction was in England.

And if I am not mistaken wasn't there some mention (maybe in one of their online things) that the Captain of the Black Rock was an ancestor of Hanso (of the Hanso Foundation)?

Ben at least knows about some of them (like Cindy). It's possible that the bulk of the group is always at the Temple so the majority of Ben's recruited Others didn't know about them (which would make me think Ben knows about all of them). Certainly, they sent a message to Richard by launching the rocket, so he knows about them (which he should either way).

Why is there any debate at all about whether or not the Others with Richard/Ben know about the Others at the temple. They've mentioned the temple about a gajillion times. Just off the top of my head, Ben tells Alex to go to the temple in the third season finale, Richard takes Ben to the temple to be healed, fake Locke tells Ben he's taking him under the wall of the temple to find the monster, fake Locke asks Richard in "The Incident" if everybody is there and Richard tells him there's another group at the temple. What exactly is the debate?

Well there's not anymore now that we remember all these little tidbits from forever ago.

And maybe not necessarily Ben, but the other others. What's so secret/special about this place that Juliet didn't seem to have any knowledge of it.
