Who is the girl? [PICARD]

She's a clone of Picard created by the Romulans. They made a mistake in the genetic resequencing, as they tend to do.

I think you folks are missing a trick in this trailer.

Picard says she is in serious danger. Not that she's a danger to the universe. It's just guy on the floor who says that. Who knows who he is?

Guy says she's 'the destroyer' but who knows what his agenda is now?

Here's my Monday morning theory:

The series 1 arc is going to be a parable about asylum/immigration. It is the hot button issue and an analogy for the European asylum crisis and the current issues at the US border would play well with their current demographic. Given Discovery wasn't particularly 'moralistic' I could well see the pendulum swinging back and ST:P going down the preachy route.

So speculation:

The Romulans found a disabled Borg cube and started to de-assimilate / interrogate the drones who were still alive and dissect the ones who were dead and their technology. The prison with the 5843 days sign is a 'holding centre' for former drones to ensure they pose no threat before being allowed their freedom. It's not really working that way though, due to paranoia about the Borg, prisoners are being abused, denied their rights, and effectively never allowed to leave.

When Hobus exploded the Federation was forced to take over the running of this facility. Picard viewed it as inhumane but Starfleet argued these policies should be continued. He was morally outraged, so quit.

The girl is an escapee that Picard can use as leverage to finally expose what's been happening. She's spent half her life in detention. She's in danger because the powers that be want her silenced. Picard will take the moral high ground, and end up pitted against the Federation and Starfleet itself in an effort to expose what's been going on.

I took away from that trailer that she was related to the Borg. How so I don't know. I'm just so happy right now that I get to see the state of the universe post Nemesis that I don't mind them throwing the Borg into the show. It is a big part of Picard's story. Would be hard and weird to ignore anyways. Hope whatever they come up with is worthy and surprising.

Apparently not.
Just noticed that’s some good shootin. She’s shooting from the hip, the barrel is moving all over the place, yet she lands all bullets pretty much dead center.

Thanks for the flashback. I remember that intro, but couldn’t tell you the plot of even one episode.
Ann Marie basically was the late-60's version of Lucy.
Got in some kind of trouble every episode but was back on top by the end.

She was a little more than that. It was considered a big thing at the time to have a single, working female with her own place as the lead of the show...the big step in that direction that preceded Mary Tyler Moore.

She could be Barclays daughter.

The trailer made a big deal of her showing speed and strength, so there must be something physically superior about her compared to a normal human. So I'd guess that she must be an augment, or a cybernetic organism built/modified by the Borg or somehow connected to Soong-type Androids. Or both.

Perhaps she's the ultimate lifeform, the perfect fusing of the biological and artificial, that represents the ultimate endgame for Borg perfectionism? Or perhaps the same, but created by Hugh and his followers?

No, the illegitimate love child of Barclay and Janeway makes a lot more sense.
I will die on this hill!
