Boyce makes cocktails out of his medical bag so that's a strenth as far as I'm concerned. "Tough day son? Here." [whips out martini for you]

Wait a minute. Are we talking McCoy (Prime), or McCoy (JJVerse)?

In this galaxy, there's a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets. And in all of the universe, three million million galaxies like this. And in all of that, and perhaps more, only one of Dr McCoy.

Favorite quote (or in this case paraphrase) in all of Star Trek.:techman:

This was tough... Bones is probably my favorite doctor, but Bashir is my favorite Trek Character. Wish I could vote for two, but had to settle on one... Bashir it is, simply for his growth into the doctor, and person, he became.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses. But being I'm a huge, huge TNG fan it has to be Beverly. :)

The way McCoy was written and played, he was very believable as a real, flawed human being. His imperfect practice of medicine got even more pronounced in the films. In THE WRATH OF KHAN, Chekov comes right out and says that Khan "put creatures in our ears" -- and McCoy blows it off without so much as a tricorder reading. BIG mistake. In ST6 he has a bad time treating the wounded Klingon.

So McCoy is the best in terms of being a realistic human with flaws and frailties, even as that might make him the last STAR TREK doctor in a starring role you would pick to treat your own injuries.

No, I'd like to amend that: Flox is last, coming in just barely before Doctor Zoidberg on FUTURAMA.

To get the best treatment, I'd go for some 24th century high-tech from the EMH.

The Doctor, of course.
He`s not only the best doc, he`s also one of the best Star Trek characters of all of the shows.

Anyone except Bashir and Phlox.

But McCoy, Leonard H will always get my vote in these polls.

I suppose in the end, since he is genetically enginereed, Bashir is the most skilled and competent doctor.

Things didn't work out too well for Khan and his gang of supermen. The genetically "superior" didn't fare too well in GATTACA, either.

As for Dr. Boyce's bartender kit, don't forget that McCoy mixes pangalactic gargle blasters with Klingon nerve gas. And remember not to tick him off when he's relaxing with a mint julep.

I think that Bashir is the best doktor mainly because of his ability to learn quickly, that's why he got my vote

By that logic, the EMH is the clear winner.

Anyway, I think this poorly worded thread is more about your favorite Doctor and I probably have to say "EMH", I find that starting from season 6 his personality did make a change for the worse but I still find him the most watchable along with Dr Crusher.

Wait a minute. Are we talking McCoy (Prime), or McCoy (JJVerse)?

Oh. My. God. Why would you even go there?

For shame, for shame..

^They're the same character.

My list:

McCoy
Voyager's EMH
Phlox
Pulaski

(every doctor on every planet in the multiverse)

Beverlump.

McCoy is my favourite with the Doctor second since he made an awful show borderline watchable, but as far as expertise go I'd always want Bashir.

Bashir probably got the best episode of any of the doctor characters in the form of "The Quickening".

Pretty sure this thread's been around not so long ago.

Anyway, I'm puzzled as to how McCoy is leading. "He's dead, Jim"

Voted Beverly; though Bashir is close.

Best actor by a long shot, most relatable character of the bunch and the man pulled some medical rabbits out of his hat during the five-year mission.
