Any protections I currently have are from executive orders made during Obama's presidency. Republicans are now promising to fight every advancement we've made and make it legal for me to be discriminated against.
Part of the problem with executive orders is they're not voted into law by Congress, so they're easy to get rid of once that particular President is gone. While Obama enjoy a democratic majority in Congress, he should have made these matters public law.
Time to fight the bigotry, misogyny, & racism that Trump, Pence and his basket of deplorable represent.
You do realize that the use of language like "bigotry, misogyny, racism" is a piece of how Trump won? It's use turn part of the voting population against the side that was using the language, it made the users seem as if they didn't understand what they were talking about.

Republicans should respect the most basic rights of their fellow citizens.

Freedom thought is offensive to some Liberals.

That's why they try so hard to get rid of it. If people had freedom of thought, they might think differently than Liberals.
You personally just voted for a president, VP, prospective cabinet, and party who:

- Have expressed an interest in expanding libel laws so he can go after media outlets and individuals that publish negative stories about him.
- Have threatened and incited his audience against the media with threats and taunts at his rallies.
- Praises the policies and strength of Vladimir Putin, who suppresses freedom of the press to such a degree that he has murdered dozens of journalists and imprisoned hundreds more.
- Attempts to undermine the entire electoral process in this country as a "rigged system" unless it goes his way.
- Demand total control over a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body.
- Excuses the murder and intimidation of doctors who perform abortions.
- Demands the defunding of Planned Parenthood despite only 3% of its services being dedicated to performing abortions, a function which federal funds are expressly forbidden from being used for.
- Don't even accept the rights of gays, lesbians, and bisexuals to practice their sexuality in their own homes.
- Promotes dangerous and disproved gay conversion therapy.
- Promote the dominance of Christianity over all other forms of religion in this country.
- Promote the dominance of English as the official language and English-only education.
- Expressed a desire to reinstate the House Un-American Activities Committee or a similar body upon being elected to office.
- Would like to ban all members of the Muslim faith from entering the country without any evidence of a crime being committed.
- Would like to detain, extensively interrogate, and require special identification of Muslim citizens in America.
- Want to ban flag burning.
- Demand that the Pledge of Allegiance be said in schools.
- Want to ban all forms of contraceptive education except abstinence only.
- Demand that anti-science teachings like Creationism be included in public science education.
- Propose prospective Homeland Security and Attorney Generals who illegally detain and search minorities and suppress freedom of speech.
- Want to ban transgendered people from using bathrooms that correspond to their gender out of a nonexistent threat of sexual abuse.
- Have passed voter suppression laws to limit minority and poor people's ability to vote.
- Gerrymander political districts to such a degree that they guarantee the outcome they want.

That's just a small sample of some things I recalled off the top of my head and not even remotely a comprehensive list, so spare us all the 1984 quotes about Thoughtcrime and your faux persecution complexes. The only ones who are getting safe spaces and political correctness consistently enshrined into law are you guys. Banning people not like you from the country and suppressing media dissent while nationalizing your religion and language even though you're already the majority is the biggest attempt at creating a "safe space" that has ever existed, so you don't get to prattle on about how everyone else are too delicate when you support candidates and party platforms that promote policies like that.

Could have done it. Should have done it.

I'm a transgender woman. Any protections I currently have are from executive orders made during Obama's presidency. Republicans are now promising to fight every advancement we've made and make it legal for me to be discriminated against. That means I can be fired because of who I am. That can already happen in my state. I have to carefully study any job I try to work for to make sure they won't fire me. Generally limiting me to stuff like Starbucks because they're more progressive than other businesses. They don't pay well, so I'm greatly limited in what I can do. They want to pack the Supreme Court with Conservatives who will almost certainly rule against my rights. So I don't have much hope for the future right now.
If your Constitutional rights are being violated, you have recourse. Any good law firm would take your case pro bono (if Alec Peters can do it, you're in like Flynn).

I'm honestly sorry that you feel like you're in peril. But I promise you, the vast majority of people in this country, political and social conservatives included, don't care what you are. We do care about who you are.

There is a small minority of backward, small-minded, worthless twits who would try to minimize you as a person. I may not be saying this right, but I hope my meaning comes through. Just know that most conservatives are not in that group.

I've seen a lot of presidential elections. My earliest recollection is the Kennedy funeral, vaguely. It seems that the more time goes by, the less we talk to each other trying to find common ground, and more and more resort to shouting down differing opinions. But it doesn't have to be that way. We can disagree without being disagreeable.

If you are being discriminated against, seek counsel and use the law to your advantage.

There is a small minority of people who truly want to harm me, but the rest of you go along with them and continue to vote them into power because they have a R next to their name.

I also don't think you comprehend what I mean when I say I can be discriminated against. There is actually a law in my state that allows an employer to fire me for being trans if they don't like it. My only choice is changing the law itself, that's not happening in my state any time soon. Now the GOP wants that to be a national law. You don't understand what this is like.

You are poorly Informed and pathetically naive. Get a clue.

I'm trying to understand, but dismissing my effort doesn't help any of us. What more can I do? You have to help me out here. Meet me halfway.

I'm trying to understand, but dismissing my effort doesn't help either of us. What more can I do? You have to help me out here.
No. I don't have to help you understand the obvious. Trump was elected by bigots and fools and his administration will almost certainly cause terrible suffering. I and millions of good people will fight this administration with every fibre of our being.

Then do the research.
Georgia law does not protect against employee discrimination based on sexual orientation.[1] The state of Georgia does not protect employees from discrimination based on gender identity. However, Clarke County and the cities of Decatur and Pine Lake protect government employees, and the city of Atlanta protects all employees against discrimination based on gender identity

Note that statutory law does not provide protections based on gender identity, but on December 6, 2011, in Glenn v. Brumby et al. the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower-court ruling that firing someone based on gender-nonconformity violates the Constitution’s prohibition on sex discrimination. The Court of Appeals found the Georgia General Assembly had discriminated against Vandy Beth Glenn, a transgender woman who was fired from her job as legislative editor after telling her supervisor that she planned to transition from male to female. This effectively provides legal protections to transgender and gender non-conforming employees in the states of Alabama, Florida and Georgia.[3
This should protect me for now. But it could be overturned and without an actual law, I'd have to go to court to protect my job.

There are currently no hate crime laws based on sexual orientation or gender identity in Georgia.
That's comforting.

Ok, thanks (but I wasn't really talking to you). You're obviously angry, and believe it or not, I understand. I think all the wailing and gnashing of teeth is a bit dramatic, but it's been less than a week. Let's see how this plays out. A lot can happen between now and January 20.

It only takes one person. She lives in one the states were they've started seeding their grand plan to legalize anti-LGBT discrimination. And white supremacists, I can't believe I'm actually saying this, are starting to come out of the woodwork.

There is a small minority of backward, small-minded, worthless twits who would try to minimize you as a person.
That small minority just got elected as President, VP, and are being installed in the cabinet. Next year that small minority is in control and they're going to unleash their grand plan on the entire US.

only as dramatic as sexual assault, conversion therapy, deporting muslim - Americans, building a wall, making abortion illegal and making racism and bigotry cool again.

My best case scenario is that Trump isn't really a Republican and will fight against every bill they try to pass. Given he picked Pence as his running mate who is a major supporter of conversion therapy, I don't think that's likely.

So I'm worried and your posts are not comforting. I've seen what Trump, Pence and Republicans want to do and know what they get away with the states they already control. I'm not being dramatic, I'm being realistic.

I'm reaching out, trying to find common ground. I don't know what else I can do.
:brickwall:
I've given you information and listed what I'm concerned about. What more do you need?

I can't change who I am, I don't get a choice. My life is literally in the hands of politicians who think I don't deserve to be who I am.
