As long as it's not TJ or Chloe, I'm good. (Guy needs something to look at on SG:U) :)
Lt. James is better eye candy than Chloe and has more potential to be useful. Chloe just exists and has no use aside from one episode skills that the writers give her in order to give her screentime.

I think people need to get over the fact that SGU is not just about the military and scientific advisors. It's a different dynamic. It's no good complaining that the civilians are useless and pointless. The point of the civilians IS that they are pointless in the current situation. That's partly why there is a power struggle - they want to feel that they have some control over their destiny (no pun intended). I do agree that they need to be given story elements that do not just involve butting heads with the military.

If they are not scientific advisors and engineers why were they brought in on the secret and flown to the Icarus planet in the first place? A mobile brothel for the gate guards?

Well, the senator was there doing an inspection wasn't he, presumably with an entourage of admin/oversight committee staff? There aren't that many civilians that aren't scientists so it's entirely feasible that this is where they are from. Ordinarily though I'd agree that your admin staff, cooks, etc would all be military personnel.

Senator Armstrong only took his daughter with him. Everyone else aside from Eli and Wray is military or a scientist contracted by the SGC. I wouldn't be surprised that most of the scientists were there to study Icarus, explaining why they haven't done anything. The problem is that there probably are some IT people or other scientists with skills that are actually useful, but they don't do anything.

Voted for Young, Scott, TJ and Greer.

That way we might occasionally solve a problem through some means other than "hitting it".
