Spoilers Who is Captain Lorca?

Playing it straight would be more reasonably uses for the agonizer. Like sending someone to the gulag, just you get to get them back to their regular job in a hour or so.

Though they could change it up and have the agonizer booth actually be how they power/navigate their version of the Spore Drive, meaning they start to need "volunteers", which starts getting worse and people "choose your pain" for you, eventually resulting in people getting sent to it for minor infractions simply because they need to jump to places all the time to keep the Empire secure from its many enemies and many rebellions. It gets out of hand by Kirk's days of command as it was found to be an effective punishment system even without the drive in the fleet anymore.

While I care about the continuity of the regular (presumably) Prime Universe, I really couldn't care less about the continuity of the Mirror Universe. The whole thing doesn't really make much sense to begin with.

Wait, I just figured it out.

Who is Lorca?....

He's JEAN VALJEAN!

(and appropriately, the Discovery's prefix code is 24601).

Why couldn't there be a story arc with the Mirror Universe looking to invade and take over the Prime Universe? Or was that story already done. Maybe the Mirror Universe would simply be content to corrupt the Prime Universe.

An unhinged guy slowly descending into crazy is infinitely more compelling to me than an evil mirror universe swapout of an upstanding Starfleet captain.

That's why I love Gotham so much. It basically happens to every single character.

Question in two parts: did the historical database aboard USS Defiant (NCC-1764) survive past Mirror-Sato's attempt to become Empress of Terra, and if it did, how well-preserved and studied did that database become?

Gotham is another series I can't stand. Too much undiagetic crazy with too little respect for the source material.

I actually kinda like this idea. It would be cool if the Prime Lorca is rescued from the Mirror Universe and can retake command of Discovery.

I'm actually not sure if Lorca being from the Mirror Universe would be better than simply being traumatized by the loss of the Buran. There are interesting story possibilities in both versions.

Ah, but the antimatter antics of the Doomsday Machine opened a rift into the Mirror universe and the Decker we saw was eeeeeevil, too.

That's the mechanism, really. One universe is Good, the other is Evil, and everything Evil on the Good side is leakage from across the border.

Inventing more crossover tech creates more leaks, which is why by the time of TNG the two sides have sort of diluted each other into utter blandness.

Who is Captain Lorca?

Captain Lorca is the guy with the black hair who stands up all the time, I think. I really haven't beem paying attention.

Silly, silly people. Discovery IS the (or a) mirror universe. When we see the "mirror universe" in the episode it's going to appear in, it will be the universe we know and love, with Constitution class starships, not as advanced tech, etc....
