Who is angry with nu trek?

Chris Pine is cute.

That really has nothing to do with the topic. I just wanted to sneak that in before the thread was locked. :D

Well said, Campe98. I'm as big a Trek fan as you can find (at least among those who don't regularly and actively cosplay) and if the new series falls short it's not as if the Earth's orbit around the Sun will be disrupted and humanity will perish in the greatest disaster since the dinosaurs were wiped out.

It's been more than ten years since a new episode of a current Star Trek series aired and the last episode to be broadcast wasn't exactly one to put in a vault for future generations to enjoy. If it's a good or even great series that's fantastic and I can't wait. If not, nobody is making me watch, are they?

Well, I enjoyed the first movie. Seemed like a great platform and kick off to a new era. Unfortunately, Into Darkness left me underwhelmed in light of the first film. It probably didn't help I was over-hyped for it.

Hate? No. Just a touch disappointed that it's been as lite as it has been. I'm not of the camp that wants to get all intellectual and spend half an hour arguing on screen the finer points of morality. Just something with a bit more guts that makes me believe there are real stakes and consequences for these guys.

With the third film helmed by Lin and written by Pegg, I'm intrigued enough to be excited again. Now with series announcement, I'm excited just to see everyone here liven up! It's going to be... Fun.

Edit: Yes, well said Campe98. I don't have the energy to hate fictional things these days. Well, maybe Twilight. But that's an exception.

I am excited for the next movie being written by Simon Pegg. I love his movies.

If nuTrek starts having plots revolving around Pumpkin Spice flavoring being added to Starfleet's food or the new show has a character who twerks all over their shipmates then I'll be the first fan at the gates of Paramount, drunk, half-naked and smeared in greasepaint.

Because some things must not and should never be tolerated and call for a declaration of war.

Shhhh! You're giving away the plot of Star Trek Over There!

By angry do you mean "sexually aroused and looking at a picture of Chris Pine" - asking for a friend.

I've enjoyed the ST09 and to a lesser extent STID, for me they could have dropped the whole Khan storyline and it would have worked fine, Harrison could have been just another exiled superman or one who fled Earth.
Khan could have worked, they didn't really need to copy the end of Wrath of Khan though. It would have actually been interesting to use Khan as more of an anti-hero. Just have him want to save his people, but be willing to kill to do so. Actually subvert the audience's expectation that he's going to turn on Kirk and continue the story of him helping Kirk stop Admiral RoboCop. Not every single movie has to be about revenge.

I think one thing to remember about Khan's character is that during the Eugenics Wars in the 1990s he earned a reputation for not only being a great warrior and ruthless but also for being the "best" of the Augment tyrants who rose to power during that decade. I could be mistaken, but Greg's Eugenics Wars novels depict Khan as being much more than just a one-dimensional dictator that most of his subjects and the rest of the outside world hated and he occasionally displayed traits that could be interpreted as noble or courageous.

Khan wanting to help people even if it means wreaking havoc and destruction to do so sounds like something Khan Noonien Singh might be in favor of for his own personal and ethical reasons, at least as viewed from the perspective of a former genetic tyrant bred to lead other people and be a superior human specimen.

I'm just going to say this: I'm not angry with nuTrek. It's an effing movie series. And there are far more important things in the world to get angry with than entertainment. I don't like something? I just don't support it. Case in point: Voyager, the new Muppet show, M. Night Shaymalan, country music.

For what it's worth, "The Visit" (Shaymalan's new movie) is pretty good.

And I like some country music . . . :)

Spock's "KHAAAAAAAAN!" was just ... Well, put it this way. On premiere night as it happened, I felt embarrassed. I don't know why, but I didn't know where to look.

Honestly, do Star Trek fans like any Star Trek? This thread is about hating the newer movies, but their is also plenty of hate for every series, especially Enterprise and Voyager. There are plenty of fans who only consider the original series to be "real" Star Trek, and plenty of other who can't stand it. For every good episode of any Star Trek series there's another episode that is a "meh" and another that is just terrible.

Even subpar or bad Trek is better than most other sci-fi/fantasy series and films, but hey....that's just me.

Most impressive, but you are not a Trekkie yet.

Let the hate flow through you.

Breaking News: Justin Bieber cast as both Hero, and Villian, of new Trek Series.

Grab your swords. This will be a bloodbath like few ever seen, but they will write operas about it.

I've actually heard this.

Well, I do live in Nashville so I have appreciated some country as well. But generally, meh.

It didn't bother me, but I did laugh when the girl in front of my friend and I watched the scene and commented, "Ooh, he mad!"
