Who has not seen Star Trek and Why?

Because I still have a few hours to go.

I'm seeing it with seven friends in a 400 seat auditorium at 10PM.

The wait is making me spin in my seat.

Haven't seen it yet. Going to see it tonight in IMAX.

Why?

That whole life and work thing got in the way.

Funny how not seeing it until the first full opening day is something that begs an explanation.

Someone should cancel my Trekkie card. ;)

I'm just charging you a late fee!

*gasps at all the people in this thread*

You heathens! Get down to the theater and pray Q won't smite you down! :D

I have not seen it only because I didn't want to go on opening day and try to fight the crowds of people. I'll probably see it next week sometime.

I'm planning on seeing it Monday on the IMAX screen. The closest one to me is Albany, NY, I live about 30 or so miles southeast of there, I work 36 miles south of where I live. I don't have a day off till monday.
Though I almost decided to watch it Thursday on a reguar screen, though my nephew had little league game so I decided to watch that instead.

I'm waiting for the crowds to die down and all the trekkies in Starfleet uniforms to get it out of their system before I go. My wife and I will probably go on an off night, maybe Tuesday.

Won't be seeing it until DVD. At this point with stories talking about all the cut scenes etc, I might as well just watch the Director's or Extended Edition when it comes out on a disc.

Also my wife and I don't like having to schedule watching a movie (as in watch it at the theatre's times) when we can put in a DVD on a decent home theatre set. And no, we don't care about the theatre 'experience' with the possible print/technical problems, lower resolution than we can get at home and the usual assortment of knobs in the theatre who seem to think that everyone wants to hear their running commentary.

I'm still debating on whether I want to see it or not.

I turned down a free ticket on Thursday, because I wanted to get a little better sense of what to expect. Unfortunately, the more I read the less I'm looking forward to seeing it. Reading about shaky camera work and huge plot holes isn't giving me much confidence.

And the ruination of the Enterprise didn't help either.

I have not seen it because not only is it NOT Gene's Star Trek, Hollywood has no respect for anything Cannon. It's all about flashy Graphics, half baked plots all to equal big bucks.

I promised my dad I wouldn't go see it until I returned home from college, so we could go see it together. He promised me he wouldn't go see it till then either, despite the fact that he can hardly wait much longer. This will be the most epic of all father/daughter outings ever! :D

I wonder if we'll go see it at the IMAX?

Funny - I'm on the opposite side of that deal - though I'm a mother and not a father. My daughter is taking me out for breakfast and to the movie tomorrow morning for Mother's day. That kind of outing is worth waiting for - even if it means I miss the first showing. :)

However, it also means that to be fair I'll have to take my husband - and then my other daughter - and I know my brother will want to see it.....

No, I haven't seen Star Trek, and don't plan to right now. I hate the theater experience. But for a good reason. I'm deaf, and I can never hear the actors speaking in a theater.

That's why I always wait for everything to hit DVD. I watch everything with earphones, and for whatever I still can't hear, there's the closed captions.

Your theatre still uses film?
That sucks, here they have the new digital projectors, and no matter how cool you think your home theatre system is ... it can't match the resolution/size of a digital movie theatre.
It's comparable from going from TV to HDTV.

I have not seen it because I'm busy this weekend and see no reason to fight crowds. Next weekend maybe.

So that's the down low Huh? That takes some will power anyway I missed a couple of posters reviews in the official 50+ grading thread that's how I ended up here...

...now I know.

I agree with you there scott, I feel the same way. Reading all the posts and seeing all the reviews has me less turned off more than I already was.

No not because it is Not Gene's Trek, not that it violates canon, It is because I feel it just isn't STAR TREK.
