Who has given up on DVD covers?

And I LOVED the first couple of Northern Exposure sets! I thought the little parka was adorable with its moose shaped zipper pull. I admit I was upset that they went to an embossed cardboard for the rest of the seasons.
Oh, yeah, it was a very cute idea, just really annoying to use. :rommie:

Still have all my DVDs in their original packaging. Have thought about getting a binder or two, so I can store some DVDs and CDs, so I can have more room.

It's just something in me, but on my "big collections" I refuse to get rid of the cases. The TNG DVDs, for examples, are treasured by me so I refuse to toss out those cases to keep the sets "original."

I kept my cases (in the closet), but I replaced them with these:

Which I print labels that look like these:

http://www.rixgrafix.com/ strikes again, I see. :D I have the covers for DS9, Enterprise, Firefly, Star Wars (OT) and the LOTR EE Trilogy from there. I *much* prefer those multi-disc cases to the original packaging, especially for the DS9 seasons.

Now those are covers I would hang on to.

My favorite is their ships in the line one.

Too bad there's no place where you can buy the cases ,and the art together to save on my print ink.

Funny you should mention this now. I'm just about to switch out my commercial DVD cases with a combination of slim packs digitrays and ace cases. Digitrays are the DVD trays that Enterprise comes in, bound together on one side with tape. I just need to figure out how to make decent sleeves. For single and double-disc movies (not franchises!) I am switching to slim packs, and for my hard-core disc-count shows like Six Million Dollar Man and Happy Days (over 30 discs in each series) I will be putting them in Ace Cases, which look like VHS cases but have a sort of reverse spindle inside. Observe:

Biffette, where did you find the Six Million Dollar Man on dvd?

It's available in region 2 (I've seen it listed on Amazon.co.uk)

I'm scratching my head here trying to figure out if there's a way to make DVD covers in Microsoft Word. Supposedly it's possible, I just can't seem to figure out exactly how...

I had a few teething problems with the movie database software but its working awesomely now. I have 119 movies loaded into it so far, many more to go...

RAMA

I made mine in MS Paint.

The size of the cover is 751 x 524 pixels, the spine is between pixel 363 and pixel 386. This is for a "slim-line" case.

A standard DVD case would be 784 x 524 with the spine being between pixels 363 and 409.

What program are you using?

That's great ... I was on a Mac (at work) though and was hoping to take advantage of a slow day and catch up on covers for my own personal projects.

I found an article on eHow about how to do this through Word, but they only had instructions for jewel case inserts and covers. I'd much prefer to find a way do it for regular snapcases.

I still have everything in cases but the dvd's get used once and then put away for archive purposes. I rip everything to a harddrive to access without ever having to get up and look fora movie.
