Who has a good memory for online/scifi games?

I've been talking a lot to a friend about Eve Online, and there was a game a number of years ago that was also an online game (download the program, but it was an MMOG). In a similar way you created ships, traded, took on missions etc. But I believe it was shut by its creators. This was probably about 5 years ago...

Anyone know the name? It's driving me mad!

Thanks.

Freelancer?

Freelancer was a great game

Eh, yes and no -- it had a cool concept and the gameplay was pretty solid, but the horribly repetitious sequences ("We don't own this base, but we have an understanding with the people who do"), the generic plot and especially the static economy brought it down more than a few notches.

It was the game's economy that really killed its replay value for me.
