Who else watched Star Trek animated on Nick in the 80's?

I sure as hell did 25 years ago when i was 4 years old and it introduced me to Star Trek including the old series re-runs and watching Star Trek 1 to 3 on video.

I thought it was a cool continuation of the OS and loved how they used the same cast plus i had a crush on M'ress as she started my fascination for catgirls besides Cleo or Cheetara.

My first experince with Star Trek came from watching the animated series on Nick. It didn't matter if the animation was limited. In my young mind, that show was awesome and still is. :bolian:

Most of my old VHS copies of that show were from the 1987 run on Nick. When the VHS tapes were released by Paramount, I replaced my lousy picture cable copies with those, and had them until 2006 when the DVD came out.

But yeah, I watched that.

I'm pretty sure I watched it before it was on Nick--this would have been late 1970s/early 1980s. Was it just in syndication back then?

I have a vague recollection of having already seen several of the episodes before watching them all on Scifi in the early 90's. Nick was probably where I had seen them.

So... probably?

I also watched it on Nickelodeon in the 80s as a kid. TAS and Star Trek III were my 1st real exposures to Trek.

In b/w first-run on Saturday mornings - random episodes only - then more random episodes in colour when breakfast TV really hyped up (due to the introduction of colour TV in Australia).

After that, it was us scrounging badly cross-taped, off-air Beta and VHS versions we'd not been able to see from other clubs in various Australian states - until CIC-Taft in UK finally released VHS sell-thru episodes. They were marked "Not for sale in Australia or New Zealand" and only available in one Sydney outlet because CIC-Taft Australasia had bought the rights but wasn't sure TAS would sell enough copies here.

It did return to very early Saturday mornings in the early 90s.

I didn't even know of its existence till around 1990 when I read about it in one of Therin's fan magazines.

First I saw it was on TV1 when they showed a few episodes sometime in the 90's.

First time I saw it in its entirety was when they released the DVD's five years ago.

Saw it first on NBC in 1973 when I was 10. During its run, the local affiliate that had been running the original live action series via reruns stopped for two years and didn't resume until the Fall of '75 (probably some confusing legal clause prohibitted both playing at the same time).

I caught it again when Nick got the rights to air it during the 80s. I never bought the VHS tapes, but I did get the DVD collection. What's embarrassing is that I've never gotten around to watching them. Then again, I've only watched a couple from the live action DVD set. Better turn in my fan badge. :sigh:

Sincerely,

Bill

I was 12 watching it on Saturday mornings. I didn't get the VHS tapes (I actually had videotaped the episodes when they were shown on local independent televisions). I was really glad to pickup the DVDs, and enjoyed watching them immensely.

I did. It seemed like the only damn episodes they ever ran were Yesteryear, The Infinite Vulcan, Mudd's Passion and The Survivor. Carter Winston turning into a deflector shield. Ah, those clever Vendorians!

I first saw TAS on Nickelodeon during the Summer of 1985 when I stayed at my cousin's house (I turned 14 that August). I'm fairly sure it was on Saturday evenings around 6 or 7pm, as it was still daylight out that time of year.

Heck, I remember Nickelodeon pre-You Can't Do That on Television--it was quite a different animal in those more interesting, early times.

Anyone glad the cast of the show were back in this one? who cares if the animation is limited, it's from the dudes who made He-Man.
