who else thought this about the Borg?

When Q Who? first aired, Guinan was telling Picard & co. about the Borg and how when they decide to come, they'll do so...

When I was 16 at the time is the episode's airing, I thought she said "in fours" meaning a team of four Borg when taking over a ship or four Borg cubes when they invade - maybe four of them all linked together creating a mega Borg cube.

But what she said was "en force".

Even the folks in the Star trek club I belonged to that met once a month thought she said "in fours".

She clearly said 'in force'.
Which of course is also a bit contradictory given the fact it was portrayed they sent only 1 cube at a time.

Then again, that could be explained in multiple ways.
Perhaps they want to spur tech. development in Federation so they would be ripe for assimilation later on ... and the Borg can wait for as long as they want.
The Borg perhaps even counted on the fact of losing a cube or two, but for them, that's hardly a loss.

this is intense I was not in High School but college when that aired well Maybe? what year was that? That should be an easy trivia right. but what gets me at this point is the hanging on every last word as if, well you are alright to do so but even still .., One does not act within the confines of time and space for mere peanuts on the dollar or less then that these actors are yes get this "actual people" that make mistakes and such, sometimes the fact that Guinan was pronouncing a c like an s reminds me of a rhyme going to that such that "I see as an ass" sorta but really; no offense but trying to spell offense I had typed that s as a c twice with speller correcting me both times and then checking list replacements to see the c is an s but whatever I have typed way too much and must get back to the goals of the day or so I think that there are goals today .., Maybe sorta kinda like..,

He sounds like he may be from one of the Balkan states.

The way he writes reminds me of Data's poetry from the TNG novel Gulliver's Fugitives. The author, Keith Sharee, apparently created the poetry using a computer program.

good ol' New Jersey here but don't let them know! They will take me away, back to my universe, where I have escaped from., I used to study grammar for silly me thought that mattered or that nay anything matters anymore.

words make ideas make meanings to thoughts but really there are no rules to grammar on the net you get teens thinking they kNOw how to write things different and they do spend all there time doing just that.

I have with what i like to think developed a style of my own ., my own rules of grammar being far more strict then any yet for the puns and multiple meanings of the words.,k

I do try to maintain the spelling paradigm but that is about it.

What I mean is is that I never heard "in fours" either, but I feel for the OP, as it doesn't sound totally wacky to say "in fours", not as dramatic and all, but I just don't want him to feel alone!

Heck, in a James Brown song (Living in America) I thought for years that he said "Minnie Mouse on a railroad track" but it was really "Many miles on a railroad track"

Well, Evyl, we've all had those "misheard lyrics/quotes" moments! In all candor, I always heard "in force," not "in fours."

Deks raises an interesting point. The Borg obviously think in big picture terms. Sending individual cubes twice to assimilate the Federation may indeed be a long-range plot to force the Federation to develop new technologies to combat the Borg. That is one of their motivations for assimilation -- gain new technology. So the first few cubes "toughen up" the Federation so they're even more valuable an asset to assimilate.

I also think it's possible Guinan was just wrong about whether the Borg do anything piecemeal. Maybe her people's encounter with the Borg was different than with other species.
