Who do you like better, Seven or Kes?

Torres would be one of those Jungle women that swim over from a near by island to make Gilligan and the skipper feel inappropriate and fall over each other to show her a good time...

How isn't Chakotay Mrs Howell?

The Doctor isn't the Professor. Originally they had the actor audition shirtless because he was added to the cast as beefcake. Bless Picardo's little cotton socks, but he can leave his damn shirt on.

ok how about this:

professor-tuvok
skipper- paris
gilligan-kim
mary anne-torres
ginger- 7
mr howell-Janeway
mrs howell-chakotay

the radio-the doctor
the mosquitos-the kim tones

BTW back on topic didn't Kes leave the show because she was allergic to the makeup?

Why have to choose? I honestly think we should have gotten both - Kes was the wrong character to ditch.
Agreed. There was an absolute gold mine of potential material to explore with a Kes / Seven friendship. The fact it didn't happen counts for me as one of Voyager's biggest missed opportunities.

I like both characters. Kes was an intriguing idea for a character, as was Seven. Both were played by above-average actresses. Both contributed a great deal to the show. That's about all I can say on the matter.

Orac:

I think you're right, it was a missed opportunity. The female characters on VOY never seemed to really be such close friends, unlike Crusher and Troi on
'TNG and Jadzia and Kira on DSN. I think it could have been a great dynamic, as the two most unusual outsiders on the ship.

Kim was slated for execution. Peoples 50 sexiest men and a killer Q and A at a convention later and the producers changed their mind. The bad reaction to her make up is only why she got her real hair in the last days. It's a stunning change in appearance really. I was stunned.

I would try the different Trek boards around the Net. It's a funny vid. :techman:

If you wanted to get a bigger audience at TrekBBS I would post a link in the Misc forum's video thread here.

In this I totally agree. Having both Kes and Seven on the ship would have created opportunities for very good stories.

As I see it, no one should have been kicked out when Seven arrived.

Well, if everyone had received a pay cut across the board, then no one would have had to have been fired.

Kes, Kes a million times Kes.

Kes asks you if you want to be glued to her and have sex for 50 hours, meanwhile, well... Seven's a virgin. Most people are backward in thinking who is most forward proponent of sexuality between the two, since Seven was a coldfish, and Kes was open and loving. Seven thought she was some sort of goddess, meanwhile Kes apotheosized. Seven bragged about her book smarts after the Borg cheated and crammed terrbytes of unwanted stolen information in her head against her will, meanwhile Kes just loved to learn and did so at superhuman speeds because she's brainy. Seven thought she could melt people with her glare, and Kes could. Seven loved someone so much that she created a gimp playtoy of them to act out all her emotional needs upon like rape by proxy, meanwhile Kes loved some one so much that she gave him a lung. Seven had perfect hair, but Kes still looked astonishing even though it looked for the most part like a Tribble had defecated her. Seven had so little sense of Style that the Doctor organized her wardrobe like she was his barbie doll, and Kes had her own unique dress sense while she mastered and outstripped every talent of the Doctor until he was just a tool that assisted her...

The list goes on.

I can add nothing to this post.

You have read my mind.

Kes. Ever and always. Actually, I stopped watching Voyager regularly after Kes left -- and I still haven't seen more than half of the rest of the show.

I like Seven so much I wrote a song about her: Seven of Nine (Assimilate Me, Baby!) It's a bit racy, but if you want to hear it, click on the link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhqVfVMqtTE I hope you like it! Go Cat Dave P.S. I like Kes too! Maybe next a song about her...

Great vid and verry funny ... "Stick that Borg thing on my face" .. LOL

< Anyway no prizes for guessing she gets my vote.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

Obviously the best idea would've been to have both characters, as some people said. Both had a load of potential growth. Seven, I feel, was over-used. Borg nanoprobes pretty much fixed every situation :p And there's the endless question of why she brought Neelix back from the dead, and to hell with the rest of the redshirts that died over the following three years...

I do wonder about the Ocampan lifespan though. If Kes had stayed, do you think either the Doctor would come up with an ingenious way to slow down her aging? Or they would've used season 7 (probably the finale) as a bittersweet end by killing her off?

Seven's nanoprobes could've fixed it, either way...

I've always thought they were probably setting her up to have something to do with Voyager getting home, perhaps in some way similar to how she left Voyager in The Gift, giving the necessary push before dying/moving on to another plane of existence/whatever.

I'm sure that they would have prolonged her lifespan. There were hints for that, most notably in "Cold Fire".
