Who do you like better, Seven or Kes?

I like Seven MUCH better. I feel Ryan is a better actress and Seven is a better character. Who do you all like better?

Seven.

Kes was a potentially character and Jennifer was a decent actress who really was made to play this character but she just never got a chance to break out.

Seven, on the otherhand, was a Borg, an interesting character and was the show's Data.

Kes, Kes a million times Kes.

Kes asks you if you want to be glued to her and have sex for 50 hours, meanwhile, well... Seven's a virgin. Most people are backward in thinking who is most forward proponent of sexuality between the two, since Seven was a coldfish, and Kes was open and loving. Seven thought she was some sort of goddess, meanwhile Kes apotheosized. Seven bragged about her book smarts after the Borg cheated and crammed terrbytes of unwanted stolen information in her head against her will, meanwhile Kes just loved to learn and did so at superhuman speeds because she's brainy. Seven thought she could melt people with her glare, and Kes could. Seven loved someone so much that she created a gimp playtoy of them to act out all her emotional needs upon like rape by proxy, meanwhile Kes loved some one so much that she gave him a lung. Seven had perfect hair, but Kes still looked astonishing even though it looked for the most part like a Tribble had defecated her. Seven had so little sense of Style that the Doctor organized her wardrobe like she was his barbie doll, and Kes had her own unique dress sense while she mastered and outstripped every talent of the Doctor until he was just a tool that assisted her...

The list goes on.

my favorite is Kes
her voice is magical

Seven on the other hand, is a robot . . . with huge boobs

I'd rather have a character with personality . . . contrast Kes and Neelix's scenes with Seven and Tuvok's scenes . . . guess which interactions were the most boring

Seven thought she could melt people with her glare, and Kes could.
Best. Reason. Ever. This is why Kes is better then Seven.
You didn't even need to write anything else Guy.

Seven is in my top five favorite characters list for Trek. She's an awesome character portrayed by a great actress.
Of course so is Kes. When the writers actually gave her something to do Lien did an awesome job.

Kes. Even in episodes that are not well regarded like Elogium, Lien played the part really well, and she was a much better compadre to the Doctor than Seven was IMO. The Doctor was always teaching Seven social skills, Kes was just there as a friend all the time. Seven is cool too, but Kes is probably my favorite character on the show.

Seven for the following seven reasons...

1.) What can I say? I'm a sucker for BIG boobs.

2.) I like chicks that are both ridiculously hot and ridiculously smart at the same time.

3.) She had terrible social skills, which led to many dramatic and comedic situations. I could empathize with someone in that position.

4.) Being a former Borg drone only made it more difficult for her to socialize with the crew, increasing the dramatic tension.

5.) The ship's alien visitors were nervous around her too, creating even more tension.

6.) It takes some serious intestinal fortitude to stand up to a force of personality like Janeway.

7.) That character could have easily been shown to approach her world in a similar way to a Gary Cooper-style movie cowboy. She'd be an asocial loner that tries to avoid trouble but, trouble finds her anyway. Thus, she ends up having a misadventure or two. This would not be entirely inconsistent with a spin-off of a series once described as 'Wagon Train to the Stars.'

Too bad Reason #7 didn't happen more often. She did have her share of misadventures but, there were not enough, IMO. :(

kes is kind of annoying. Seven wins hands down because she is gorgeous ans i totally have a thing for the borg..... i know that i'm not the only one.

Kes!

She's simply a better character. Definitely more interesting with her mental abilities and also with her overall approach. She is beautiful, nice and friendly but also strong-willed, brave and determined with a way to get things the way she want without using force. Typical examples of that was when she persuaded Tuvok to go after Janeway and Chakotay in "Resolutions", something which Kim was almost court-martialed fr when he tried the same thing.

In a way, Kes is both a complement and a contrast to more standard Starfleet characters as Janeway and Torres. That makes Kes unique and interesting.

Seven is an OK character if not for the silly catsuit and the way the producers sold the character as a sex-symbol most of all. But we've seen characters like her before in Star Trek and other series, the typical good-looking female main character.

As for the acting, Ryan is a great actress but so is also Jennifer Lien who did a terrific job in portraying Kes. She really gave life to the character.

I'm confused...is this about who we like better or want to do more? Because if its the latter I want to change my vote.

Kes, easily. Most underwritten character on the show besides Chakotay. Most opportunity for growth and development and plotlines... all wasted. And then they threw her away instead of one of the dullards.

Terrible mistake.

Why have to choose? I honestly think we should have gotten both - Kes was the wrong character to ditch.

Kes was OK, but her biggest weakness was having to share much of her screen time with Neelix. I also wish she had her longer haircut from the beginning of the series because it looked much better than that pixie wig she had to wear. I'd rather they ditched Neelix or Harry Kim - both were lost causes.

Seven was an awesome character in her conception, which I believe was from Brannon Braga. It was Rick Berman who decided she had to be a 'Borg babe', resulting in her cat suit and high heels outfit. Despite that, I felt Jeri Ryan did a superb job, considering how giggly she is on the DVD interviews, she gives Seven a very compelling serious persona.
