Yes, an old topic, but I have this funny feeling TrekToday goofed up their current poll and I'd like to set the record straight.

Andorians--They weren't really fleshed out until Enterprise. They were visually interesting and the limited background we received on them was intriguing but they weren't exactly riveting as far as species go. I liked Shran but not as much as many fans.
Borg--they are my favorite species.
The Borg are just one of those instances of writers catching lightning in a bottle by creating an alien race that catches on like wildfire with the fans and that captures their imagination. I mean how many races have that kind of impact after only one brief appearance. Sure they might not be the first cybernetic race in science fiction but Hurley must be applauded for doing something original with them making them such a fascinating group with quite intriguing characteristics and unique behavior. They weren’t quite like anything I personally had seen before. Their appeal for me and I suspect a great many others is the idea of a race of beings that communicate on every level that they are alien. Their society is so fundamentally different in every way.
They are absolutely terrifying. I loved their depiction as a force of nature acting with no sense of malice towards those they are assimilating. An alien race with no real concept of death.
I do think that the inclusion of the queen was a mistake. The fascinating thing about the Borg was that they were a single collective mind with no emotions just a cold disspassionate driven by the imperative to acquire new technology.
Then the queen comes along and turns the drones into lumbering zombies carrying out her will. She came across as an individual, a femme fatale and scorned woman angered by Picard's rebuke.
Cardassians--I liked what DS9 did with them giving us a variety of attitudes/personalities from the Cardassian dissidents like Natima Lang or Ghemor to Damar to the Cardassian scientists in "Destiny" to Dukat.
Ferengi--they were alright in small doses and unlike many I preferred their appearances on TNG to DS9's unfunny comedy outings. I did like Quark, Rom, Nog.
Klingons--they are okay in small doses but the honor schtick got old after a while. It was wearing pretty thin in the last seasons of TNG and DS9 just ran it into the ground. I sorta had high hopes for them being returned to adversaries in DS9's fourth season but the writers really didn't capitalize on it.
The Xindi-I thought they were a pretty well-developed race. It was a fresh idea of a race composed of several different varieties. I thought ENT did a fairly good job fleshing them out and adding little details throughout certain episodes. The make-up was outstanding.
Another species ENT did a good job with were the Vulcans with the trilogy in season four. Even though we had seen them over the years especially on TOS, those three episodes especially the Reeves-Stevenses penned "The Forge" did more to bring them to life as an exotic lifeform.
The Dominion species were also interesting.
Q-I'm one of the few who never really cared for the Q. I thought he was best utilized in TNG's AGT. DS9 and VOY for the most part ruined the idea by turning him and the continuum into jokes.

Temis, I'll go with the same choices. A couple others who are high up (Andorians and Vulcans being among them), but Romulans, Cardassians, and Borg are the coolest.
Romulans and Cardassians. The elf-Romans and the spoonheads are almost always a joy to watch.

Other, and Q. The other being the Breen and Tholians, which because of their stark differences between odinary humanoids and sentient species in the Star Trek universe retained an elemetn of mystery. The most complex were the Cardassians and Klingons.
When the Romulans finally get some much-needed development, the writers will need to be careful to differentiate them from the Cardies, who have moved a bit into Rommie turf via DS9.
Cardies are arrogant and aggressive but essentially self-defeating and tragic. Rommies should be sharp & savvy, and not people we would ever need to feel sorry for.

I'm surprised a person with the word Vorta in her username did not put a single GQ-native Dominion member race in the list - not even the 'divine' Founders!
I find the Dominion to be of interest, but I don't think there is one GQ member race which really stands out for me in that regard - they go well together.
I did like the cynical attitude the Cardassians, and the aloof stance of the Breen, that were added to the mix as the War progressed, not least since I suspect that ever since the attack on the Omarion Nebula home world, the Founders had decided to have the Cardies receive a helping of mass xenocide as soon as they were surplus to requirements!
Of the ones on the list?
Hard to say - I do like the Romulans, though, but there are few races and factions which don't have something worth investigating about them.
Though I would like more Voth stories! Hooray for hadrosaur-children...

Star Trek Communicator once made a really good point regarding the Cardies -- they're essentially humanity projected years into the future. We, the audience of today, probably had more in common with them than we did the futuristic humans of the show. That's probably one of my main reasons for liking them so much.

I throw in with the Cardassians ...a cut above interesting. All the rest except for the Bjorians and Romulans are almost cartoonish...if that's even a word...and yes that would include those esteemed Vulcans too.
