Whither Star Trek: The Experience?

Just got back from Vegas. I stopped in at the Experience with my friend. We wandered around the gift shop and peeked into Quark's. Didn't pay for entrance into the museum or ride. Not to offend anyone, but I was a little worried about it being a little TOO cheesy for my liking. Plus, we didn't get half-price tickets (at one of the cool half-price ticket places along the strip) and I wasn't about to pay $40+ to get in (I spent enough money in Vegas as it is).

I was surprised at how much merchandise they had in the shops. And my friend and I were both really impressed (and amused!) by the tribbles that were for sale.

I hope it doesn't close. I've only been once but I loved it. Sitting in Quarks drinking a Warp Core Breach while watching Way of the Warrior was just awesome. Felt right at home. If it does close, I wish they would open some Trek themed restaurants. Sort of like the Rain Forest Cafe.

They DO have discounts, AAA, etc. if you have a Hilton HHonors frequent guest card that seems to be the highest discount

I was there over Christmas with my wife and we had a blast!

Even though the graphics on the Klingon Encounter were starting to show their age I enjoyed it a lot more than the Borg ride. I actually went on it twice I liked it so much!

My wife isn't a huge trekkie but she loved the experience too, Quarks in particular. We went there every night for a drink except for one night when they closed early (Sunday I think). Now she wants to to do a Trek themed party with all the drinks, especially the Warp Core Breach, when we get back to Canada.

I really hope the rumour of the impending closures proves to be untrue, but the way the bartender at Quark's was talking (I believe his name was Darren) it didn't sound too good. I'm glad I got to go at least once, but I would really like to go again.

For those of you interested here are a few shots I took while there:

My wife getting a little too familiar with a Ferengi.

Nice pics seeker, brings back alot of memories from when I was out there in March and reminds me of things I missed (damn you Warp Core Breach!).

Just so you can put names to the faces, the Elder Klingon (he'll kill me:)) is Dahar Master Mo'tog, the Ferengi is Liquidator Kuan, and the Vulcan is Professor T'Pril.

I'll be back there next week.

Also, check out my similarly titled "Whither Star Trek: The Experience? Update" for the ...er update.

Great pics,TheSeeker... they made my day. :)

Darren was our bartender, cool guy. Man I really wanna go back out there now!

^Yeah, Darren is a great guy. We wanted to buy him a drink when he went off duty but sadly we never got the chance. Hopefully we'll have the chance to buy him one in the future at the Experience.
