Whither Star Trek: The Experience?

It is blue.
Blue beer (not sure of the maker). If you get the bottled Romulan Ale, be prepared for an interesting side effect within 24 hours. It's the number two reason to buy it.
A friend and I just got back from Vegas (we were at the Riveria for a conference) and had a great time at the experience. Quarks became our bar out there for a couple of days, where we finished off TWO warp core breaches on two consecutive days (those things are lethal!). I thought it was cool, the museum stuff was interesting, nice artifacts, and the rides were cool (the next gen ride was a bit dated, but the Borg experience was awesome, with the 3d and moving chairs). But i think the most interesting thing was the people walking around costume. My friend and I saw the Borg, and two different Klingons. Somebody told us that a Ferengi and an Andorian were walking around, but we didnt see those. As for the others, they really spent some time getting them into costume, to me they looked really good, show quality even, And the Borg was great, staying in character the whole time. After a warp core breach I tried to argue him to death a la Shatner arguing a computer to death, that was interesting He did a very good job staying in character. Finally, my friend and I talked to one of the shop workers who said the place is not closing, because they would be the first to know. If you see it, youd believe it. The Star Trek symbol is built into the Hilton sign and the surrounding casino is made to look like a space set. I doubt very much it will close because I think it brings in too much money and publicity for Paramount and the Hilton.

I wish these rumors would be addressed once and for all one way or the other.
I'm thinking of changing my plans in vegas this summer just so I could soak up the Experience one more time, but if it's not closing I could take my time.
Yeah that's the one Churoq told the crowd while we were in the rides line. I really wish I could remember the one he told us about the Ferengi... something like "What's better than a Ferengi in a box-- a Ferengi in 5 boxes"

I suppose we'll find out if the May announcement is true in...er...May. But, you know, why wouldn't you make plans to visit the Experience if you're going to be in Vegas, anyway.
Not to get too far off topic, one of my favorite stories while working there as a Klingon (I've got more from people bursting into tears after being transported on opening day to assistance dogs accidentally taking shuttle rides. The laughs never stop...) is the time when the place was packed after one of our events. Kuan and I had worked on this bit about putting on a production of "Hamlet" in the restored Klingon version. The idea was that there weren't enough Klingons assigned to the station so Kuan was going to hire some tall humans and put rubber foreheads on them so they could pass as Klingons. Kralk's contention was that that was ludicrous; that no one would believe a human with a rubber forehead was a Klingon. We plead our case to the remaining patrons in Quark's (the unfortunate thing was that by the time we got back out there, the place had pretty much cleared out. Waah!). I think we each got about 50/50.
When you visit, ask questions. There are usually stories going on among the characters. I believe Liquidator Kuan is currently infatuated with Vulcan Ambassador T'Pril. And Andorian Lt. Cmdr. K'Stran just pulled a fast one on his superior so that they are now the same rank. The Klingons are bored and bristle at having to work with the Ferengi and tolerate (barely) the Romulan Cmdr. The Borg is being reassimilated into human society.
Mostly have fun and play along.

I always go to the Experience whenever I go to the Vegas convention. I wouldn't be a much of a Trek fan if I didn't.
Though if this the last year I'll be able to go, I want to do as much as I can there and sample as much of the food and drink as well.
I didn't even know you could check out the Borg elevator and the second floor at Quark's until you mentioned it.

My wife and I just got back from spending four days in Las Vegas and on our last day there her parents took us. They live just outside of Las Vegas and had never heard of the Experience. I'd been there once nearly nine years ago so I knew what to expect on the "Klingon Encounter" ride, but had no clue the Borg-4d would be so cool. My wife laughed at me because I jumped so high when the seat attacked me. My in-laws loved both rides and loved how well the makeup was done on the aliens. I did see a ferengi, two klingons, and an andorian. Got my picture with everyone but the tall klingon they had. The one klingon I did get my picture with was hilarious and was very true to character. Same with the andorian. I'd post pictures but I have no clue how to on the bbs. Anyways, the crowds there were pretty good for a Tuesday afternoon so I don't know what to believe. I'm glad I got one last chance to go if it does close, but I hope it doesn't.
I spent the last week road-tripping cross-country, and I spent a night in Vegas around the corner from the Hilton, so naturally I had to check out the experience!
I'd have to say, it's a bit smaller than I was expecting. One hallway full of old props (pretty neat seeing those costumes and things. And is that a real Defiant from the show?), two rides and then the shops. Probably a bit pricey for all that. But I really got a kick out of it! I did the backstage tour first because I thought it would take me behind the scenes of the actual shows or something, not the rides! So I had the transporter effect spoiled for me before I actually experienced it. Still great fun, though.
Loved the rides. Loved Klingon Attack in particular. It was so cool to be on the Enterprise, and the actors really seemed into their roles! When we were being escorted onto the turbolift, I told the lady who was staying behind, "Good luck with the Klingons," and she just remained ashen-faced and stoic! Then when you get off the lift, the guy that greets you immediately spouts off the numerous systems that are down. And man, he knows that shit! He was awesome.
I thought the Borg Invasion was a bit cheesier, what with the 3D. Also, I just don't like Voyager as much. But the girl that took us through the "station" was really cute and flirty, so I guess that kind of made up for it.

All in all, it was a pretty fun experience, and I'd be sorry to see it go. It was probably the first time I've ever not felt like a total dork for being a Trek fan. ^I got the same sort of talk from a Klingon, and a lecture about how Starfleet is always the first to break their own rules (since I was wearing a custom ENT jacket). Damn my slow, alcohol-addled brain...I didn't think of a clever response until after he left: "Maybe I killed a Starfleet officer for this jacket

You know, when we first opened, we got a lot of that. I was playing one of the Blue team (the ride loaders) that also gets transported with the crowd. It was amazing the range of reactions we got from cheers to tears. I will never forget one woman who said, in awe and amazement, "I just gotta touch it" and gingerly touched the transporter console on her way to the bridge.
Looks like I'm heading back out there next week (9th - 13th). I'll see if I can find out more dirt.
