This is a made up news story. They found a few comments on social media and wrote some articles with a greatly exaggerated headlines to get clicks. Some of the comments they alluded to were fairly benign.

The aliens presented to two of the human survivors footage from several Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes as examples of a deep rooted desire to dominate all other species.
because the humans in the show display a pattern of contempt for alien species (in Star Trek!).
