Apparently, at the moment there's four different X-Men-related movies either being planned, developed, considered or whatever, all of them in different "branches" of the overall X-Men series:

  • X4 -- direct sequel to the main X-Men film series, following on from X-Men: The Last Stand.
  • X-Men: First Class 2 -- sequel to X-Men: First Class (obviously, that's only a working title).
  • The Wolverine -- sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Apparently, though, it's a very stand-alone story in a different style to its predecessor... which doesn't make it a "reboot", I might add, any more than Batman Returns is a reboot to Batman.
  • Deadpool -- I don't know much about this except that it's notably not a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine but actually, completely standalone.
Now, there's no reason to assume that only one of these -- or, indeed, less than all four of these -- will actually get made, but I was wondering which particular one are people most interested in? Or would you rather see something else entirely? Or nothing?

It depends on two things...who they get to direct "The Wolverine" and if Vaughan stays on for "First Class 2."

If we get two positives there...I'm not sure. Solution? Vaughan should direct "The Wolverine."

A Deadpool movie (with Ryan Reynold in the lead) has been a dream of mine for a long time. I just hope it actually happens.

Also, after seeing First Class today, I'm really really stoked for a sequel to that

If it's of the same caliber as the first, I would love to see the follow up to First Class. I would also look forward to the next Wolverine movie simply because I'm a big Wolverine fan and I'm hoping that they would improve over their first attempt in that department.

I can't whomp up any interest in X-Men despite being a long time fan of the comics. I just think the whole thing has been bungled too badly for me to bother with anymore.

Bring on The Avengers! :bolian:

X-Men III killed off or otherwise removed all the characters I cared about from the original series of films, so I have absolutely no interest in seeing anything that would follow that mess. I also don't particularly care for the Wolverine character when he is not a part of the larger X-Men unit.

On the other hand, I loved X-Men: First Class and would really like to see the new cast continue in these roles, with either the current director or someone of equal talent. Maybe even Bryan Singer himself.

I want to see Cable fight Stryfe on the moon, with copious flashbacks to Apocalypse's dystopic future world.

It would gross one billion dollars.

Since everyone is ignoring the title of the thread and stating multiple movies... :)...my other choice would be "The Wolverine" depending on the director. Barring that, then X4 potentially directed by Bryan Singer.

I'meeing First Class today but I loved what they did with the main franchise overall. X3 did fumble the ball by not allowing the Phoenix to be the lead story but they did finally seem to get the group dynamic right.

I want X4 to deal with the Morlock Massacre. It's a great opportunity to give some of the current characters a decent exit (Angel, Shadowcat, Colossus, & Nightcrawler were all severely injured in the comics) and bring in some new blood in a natural way (Psylocke, Havoc, and Dazzler came along as replacements). I'd even be keen to see a prim, British Psylocke taking on Sabretooth at the end of X4 just like in the comics, which allows Wolverine to get his obligatory showdown and opens up possibilities for X5. The Marauders are half decent villains and Mr Sinister's agenda allows for Cyclops (who we never see die) and Jean Grey to return in X5 or X6. It also gives us an opening for Cable, Apocalypse, and Angel as Death in X5 when they do the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse story mixed in with the rescue of Scott and Jean and Christopher Summers being taken to the future. X6 could then deal with the Sentinels and Cable returning from the future to prevent their ascendance. If they want to do a spin off set in the apocalyptic future they also have that option.

I think that 6 movies could deal with a big chunk of the franchise's classic plots and would have enough breadth to cover most of the key characters.

Well no matter what we say, I think its very easy to say in some form or another Wolverine 2 will definitely happen, and the same goes for "Second Class", FC is getting great reviews and will no doubt make a comfortable profit.

Which one would I rather see? First Class sequel I suppose, but I won't have to worry about a choice as both will be made.
Deadpool could be good but I'm not overly bothered, X4 would be great but I can't see it being done for a while with the FC sequels, and by the time they're done it would probably be too late (if it isn't already)

If X4 is supposed to follow in the same continuity as X1, X2, and X3, then Psylocke is already dead, and Sabretooth seems intended to have been killed as well ( though admittedly in what could be considered a less-than-definitive way for a comic book character ). Also, I know she returned from death in the comics, but Jean Grey should stay dead in the film continuity IMO.

The Wolverine. There are few actors playing a part that I enjoy more than Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. As long as Jackman keeps playing the part, I'll keep paying to see the movies.

First Class is the best of the bunch, so I would like to see a sequel to that. Wolverine 2, I would like to see if it's Jackman. I have zero interest in the other possibilities.
