Which Warp Scale will be used?

Which warp scale do you guys think will be used, TOS or TNG? And which one do you think should be used?

What was the maximum speed of TOS Enterprise and what do you think nuEnterprise will be able to achieve, think it will be faster?

I think they'll use the one like this:

"Mr. Sulu take us to warp!"

"Aye sir." Sulu moves lever forward and ship warps away.

Kirk "Now you see before we speed away from this incredibly dangerous situation in which we could all be killed in an instant I'll stop to specifically name and explain what scale we're using to measure the velocity as which we get the fuck out of here in the hopes that it'll prove useful to someone and alleviate any worries people may have about exactly what measurements we're using."

Sulu "Who are you talking to?"

Kirk *exasperated sigh* "Just go that way really really fast."

I don't think Abrams and his people have thought that deeply. They'll just assume the audience has a generic view of warp drive and not go into any details.

More than likely they have since J.J Abrams is a very technical person
and Orci/Kurtzman are huge Star Trek nerds.

But seeing as it's not really relevant to anything there would be no need
to extrapolate on it in the film.

The ship just needs to go fast, it's a tool of the story which is all it really
should be.

Like the view that 100% of the new audience and 80% of current Trekkies have anyway.

I don't think it's a matter of deep thought.
I just don't see any reason why any such reference about warp scales would be included in the movie...

In any case it's in the pre TOS era, lets assume they use the old scale and move on.

Well its not like anyone actually knows how the thing works or what the Warp Factors even mean, the scale used is probably one of the least explained things in the entire show so yeah it really doesn't matter. When Kirk yells Warp 6 you just expect Sulu to hit the button and away they go, no wait sorry "throttle up" or whatever it is now.

There's a chrome plated throttle and barcode scanners on the bridge. I'd be surprised if anyone involved with the production is even aware there are two warp scales.

They are going to use the Warp Scale of Plot.

Exactly, the only one that matters.

And wasn't there a "throttle" handle in one of the other films? TMP?
Welcome addition anyhow, brings some of the interaction back away
from just flat screen and buttons.

tos possibly.

though warp super highways may exist also.

;)

a theory that was used all the way back in the time of tos to help explain why at times enterprise was getting around faster then she should.
that there were places in space.. corridors ect where a ship would move faster then normal.

I'd prefer the way stargate approaches going fast.

"Just make it go!" *gestured forward dismissively*
