A spin on "which Doctor character is best" debates, which Doctor would you want as your personal MD? Consider that factor before personality. Poll to follow...

Do I have the option of saying the Karl Urban version of Dr. McCoy? As far as I can tell (or hope), it would be the DeForrest Kelly brand of witticisms and bedside manner, but wrapped in the eye candy that is Karl Urban.

Other notes: I don't think I'd mind Dr. Crusher, either. I've always wondered how good Pulaski's chicken soup is, but I probably wouldn't pick her. The EMH seems a little too annoying to me (though that could be more of overexposure than actual character). Something tells me that Phlox is a great conversationalist while he checks you up.

With that said, it's down between Karl Urban McCoy and Bashir. Tough choice for me.

I chose The Doctor. He knows everything and can add to his knowledge and skills with an upgrade. No learning curve. :)

Pulaski was a fine character but a completely blah and annoying Doctor IMO.

For Bones I already specified the new one would be my choice for him.
I think that would have to be within the "rules" much like one is going to
have to make a distinction between new and old Kirk in any number of
situations. But my fine red headed lady thankfully keeps me from having too.

I'd say Bashier. Not only is he as brilliant as all the other series' doctors. Face it, they are never incompetant. But he has that genetically enhanced thing going. Remember, he had to purposely miss that test question on his final exams so as not to draw too much attention. I also really like his bedside manner. I think that he'd be the one I'd most likely want to be chums with if I was in Starfleet.
I'd also like Dr. Phlox's bedside manner, but I can't get past the fact that his medical knowledge is 200 years more primitive than Bashier's. Also, I hate leeches.

Why would you want the younger version of Dr. McCoy? He would have much less experience and knowledge than the real, older version. If you're choosing your Doctor based on looks then you may be in trouble.

The EMH. With a medical knowledege that big, he's perfect.
Personality wise, yes he's a bit of a jackass at the start, but his bedside manner is brilliant in later seasons.

Frankly, medical technology in almost any era of Trek seems to do the job no matter how primitive or advanced it is compared to the other eras. For that matter, the EMH and Bashir are both artificially brilliant and should theoretically be the two best Doctors on the list, but as far as the narrative goes, they're essentially on the same level as McCoy, Crusher, Pulaski, and Phlox. So again, there's no concern there with skill levels.

So what do we have left? That's right, looks. And perhaps who would you most likely have a drink with. Hatcha!

For me it's not just looks, it's personality. How my Doctor treats me is
just as important to me as how well my Doctor treats me.

I think I may like the personality difference of the new McCoy better than
the old, though I certainly love old Bones aswell.

But for me, The Crusher fits all areas perfectly well. :D

Bashir. Best bedside manner, medical expertise, and... maybe I could get him to introduce me to his handsome Cardassian friend.

If I wanted to get better, it's got to be the EMH given his perfect medical knowledge and his lack of shaky hands if you had to have a complicated operation!

I think I'd feel like I was in good hands with any of them (although some of Phlox's leeches and whatnot might make me a tad wary), but I'd have to go with Bashir. He just seems like he's probably the most brilliant and skilled doctor around (due in no small part to his genetic engineering, I'm sure).

I would hope, however, that it would be post-Season 2 Bashir, when he seemed to mature greatly and, in my opinion, put a stop to his annoying behaviour.

Agreed. That's why I can't have Pulaski as my personal MD. Also disqualified: the EMH. I have nothing against holograms, but the instant he sings a lullaby filled with technobabble puns, I'm slitting his vocal subroutines.

My reasoning as well. Even if everyone he treats dies, gets turned into a zombie, or gets impregnated with someone else's child.

Dr.Phlox. Oh! and isn't it Dr.Pulanski not Pulaski? Please correct me if I am wrong,Thanks.

It's Pulaski. I remember that because she was the doctor when I was in the first grade in Chicago, and I always equated her to a street named Chicago and for Pulaski Day, a holiday that meant school kids had the day off. I didn't like her as a doctor, but I would be forever indebted for her involvement in getting us the three-day weekend, courtesy of Dr. Katherine Pulaski Day.

Hey, I was seven, I had my beliefs.
