Which Star Wars movies have you seen in theaters and how many times?

Star Wars (1977) - two times :adore:
Empire Strikes Back (1980) - two times :luvlove:
Return Of The Jedi (1983) - once
...all other SW films on dvd only.

Now, I have seen all the Star Trek films :techman: in theaters beginning with TMP December 7th 1979.

Phantom Menace once when I was a kid. Liked it then because I was a child.

The Force Awakens once because my dad wanted to see it with me. It was fine.

Last Jedi once because my dad wanted me to see it. This one made me care about Star Wars.

Tell me more.
I've never been a Star Wars guy. I was ambivalent as a kid until TPM came out. At that point I was into it for like a year maybe?

I think my problem, if you can call it a problem, was always that the Star Wars universe seemed very black and white. There's the Dark Side and the Light Side. Sith and Jedi. And while there's a tug of war between them as they try to recruit so-and-so to one side or the other, it didn't seem like a terribly nuanced view of human morality. There's internal turmoil occasionally, but its approach to Light/Dark didn't resonate with me.

That changed dramatically in TLJ. I felt like TLJ really blurred the line between Light and Dark. It's much grayer than what I've seen in previous SW movies. I loved the way they addressed that through Luke's own moments of weakness and doubt. I thought that was great. It added a lot of depth to what I had thought was kind of a shallow presentation of that philosophical divide.

Star Wars - probably the 1982 re-release (1x), 1997 Special Edition (1x) - Total 2x
Empire Strikes Back - 1997 Special Edition (1x) - Total 1x
Return of the Jedi - 1983 release (1x), 1997 Special Edition (1x) - Total 2x
The Phantom Menace - 1999 release (3x) - Total 3x
Attack of the Clones - 2002 release (3x)- Total 3x
Revenge of the Sith - 2005 release (2x)- Total 2x
The Force Awakens - 2015 release (3x) - Total 3x
Rogue One - 2016 release (2x) - Total 2x
The Last Jedi - 2017 release (2x) - Total 2x

Never bothered with TPM 3D or The Clone Wars. But all in all, it would appear I've had 18 theatrical experiences with Star Wars. My most memorable was ANH: SE. Not only were a friend of mine and I interviewed for the local news, our print had French subtitles for the aliens. It was a little difficult to understand what Jabba was saying there. LOL

I've never bothered with feature-length 3D films. And I think the only feature-length film I've ever seen in IMAX was Fantasia 2000.

3D gives me headaches. We like that our theaters now show non-3D IMAX movies. We will probably see Infinity War that way. But Solo? Eh, I'm fine with a 2D normal size presentation.

3D is great for things like Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, and Captain EO, and Magic Journeys, and (my personal favorite) Mickey's PhilharMagic. And for MuppetVision 3D, Toy Story Midway Mania, and the new Star Tours. But I have little doubt that I'd end up with a roaring headache after 2 hours of non-stop 3D movie.

Star Wars, 12 times or more: Since I'm an old guy, I saw Star Wars 10 times at theatres in the summer of 1977. I had only read the reviews in Time, the New York Times, and Starlog before seeing it. I also saw a 16-mm print during a college film club trilogy showing in the late 80s and saw the 1997 remaster.
ESB, 3 times. Initial release, film club, and 1997 remaster
RJ: 3 times. Same as ESB
Prequels: Once each. Yuck.
Sequels: Saw VII and VIII twice each, saw Rogue One once.
