STAR TREK:EXCELSIOR
  • The adventures of Captain Sulu [George Takei '90s or John Cho] during his years in command of the Excelsior.
STAR TREK:TITAN
  • The adventures of Captain Riker [Jonathan Frakes] during his years in command of the Titan.
Please ignore the extra "other" poll option, the edit would not let me correct.

Titan would have been interesting. On the other hand: I have difficulties with the names of Riker's multi species crew. I can hardly remember the names. So a series showing faces to the respective names could have helped my memory.

The unmade series I want is William Shatner's Star Trek: Academy, which became the novel Collision Course. I'm hoping the in-development Starfleet Academy series will be along similar lines.

I'd have liked a show that centered on a ship with a medical charter, like Crusher's Pasteur. It could still be out in the far reaches from time to time, but I've always wanted a medical drama tv show that wouldn't piss me off with its modern day inaccuracies, & having one set in the future with alien species & whatnot would be just the right method for getting around that.

It would also have the distinction of never having been done. A House M.D./St. Elsewhere/ER crossed with Star Trek, benefitting from being both medical drama & space adventure

Excelsior, of course. George Takei showed in ST VI and Voyager that Sulu makes a credible starship captain. It's a shame this wasn't seriously considered in place of Enterprise.

It was attempted back in the late nineties with MERCY POINT. Alas, it didn't catch on. I remember joking that if it had just been called STAR TREK: MERCY POINT, it would have ran for seven seasons!

P.S. You might also like the Sector General novels by James White, which were doing the "hospital station" thing as far back as the 1950s.

Titan but it seems way too late. Now I would just like a post Nemesis show on any ship. Even that all Vulcan one.

I still would like to see Excelsior. I think Takei would've done a decent job at it, but John Cho I honestly think would knock it out of the park as a tv lead.

Other than that, I'm not interested in any of the famous 'what if' treks. I'd prefer a new series be truly new and different.

Series set in the Star Trek universe but not about a ship going boldly on

A series about Star Fleet Intelligence would be great, a medical drama set on a 24C starbase or the life of a civilian on a planet in the Federation

I tend to think all those things would be better served without being attached to Star Trek.
