Season One no doubt will win but there were some really, really good eps in Season 2. And for what its worth Season 3 did give us ALL OUR YESTERDAYS and the THOLIAN WEB so no matter how inferior it is it still managed a couple gems.

Season 2...easily.
Season One for me.
Either one or two could whoop Season 3 hands down. Frankly, I don't know anyone in or outside of this BBS who thinks Season 3 was the best. Never have.
No one's gonna ask what are the four? I have them as "Journey to Babel," "Amok Time," "Mirror, Mirror" and "The Doomsday Machine."
Anyway, season one edges out two (the last "best ep" poll was between two first season episodes--TCOTEOF and BOT-- after TDM was knocked out of the running, iirc) but season two is much bettter than season three, which has only four second rate epiosdes and one really fun third rater ("Enterprise Incident," "Tholian Web, "Spectre of the Gun" and "Day of the Dove"; "Whom Gods Destroy".) Mind you, second rate TOS is still really good tv.

Even subpar/bad TOS from Season 3 tends to be just as good if not better than a lot of TNGs and VOYAGERs from twenty to thirty years later. Says a lot about how expectations and story quality in the franchise suffered over time.
You'd rate TWT over JTB? Fascinating. I expected "Mirror, Mirror" to be the one you'd leave off. Huh.

Indeed. For me, it the most perfectly balanced of TOS episodes; it most completely represents what the show was about. We've got aliens galore, political intrigue which makes the show feel real, a rivetting space battle, a medical crisis, a murder mystery and a family drama which allows Spock's emotional core to show through but never really crack his stoic veneer. Plus, we get a Kirk fight scene complete with a flying butt slam and a knife in the back. All the episodes lacks is a throwaway scene of Scotty boozing it up with the little gold guys (pity Doohan isn't in the episode).
I'm also amazed at how shrewdly Fonatna balanced the Spock and Kirk material (Nimoy gets juicy anguish to play, Shatner gets to be the ne plus ultra apace hero) to balance the Nimoy and Shatner egos.
Really, the only complaint I have with this episode (other than lack of Doohan) is that Amanda goes from "I won't risk both of you" to "And I'll hate you for the rest of my life" a little too neatly. But that's weeny.

I've always thought that the second half of the first season and the first half of the second season was th best run for TOS.
Roughly speaking, that would be Shore Leave through The Immunity Syndrome ( I know, I'm being a bit liberal here).
The first half of the first comes next (the characters were not quite as fun, yet) and the second half of the second next (the characters were great but the stories started to suffer).
As for the Third Season, the first four are watchable.

Hard to decide really...i'm going with season one,but just barely. Season one had the best writing, yet season two had better character moments, and things seemed a little more comfortable wherein they played fast and lose with the show and characters (to it's benefit). But then thats they joy of Star Trek:TOS it varied greatly and wasnt just 79 episodes of the same thing. LOL but I digress, season one because they hit the ground running with some of the best stories ever.
Season One's running away with this: 45 votes to 17 to 2. The board and I agree for once.

Well hell yea, there's some love for season 3.The Enterprise Incident, Spectre of the Gun, Day of the Dove, Elaan of Troyius, Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, The Way to Eden...
Season 3 was often more "Lost in Space" thanks to a new producer. I guess that's the logic anyhow?
