The stretch from For the Cause to Your Are Cordially Invited is the strongest run of episodes in all Trek. Only two duds in the mix.

I refoose to choose. :)

But I think maybe season 6 is the one with the least amount of dud eps? But I've always had a soft spot for S3, too.

Tough call, but I think DS9 has the most amazing ending of any of the Treks.

Here are my overall ratings season by season.

DS9
S1: C+
S2: B-
S3: B
S4: B+
S5: A-
S6: A-
S7: A

I go with season 5. They all had their strengths and their flaws of course, and the level was high from the start and only getting higher as the show went on.

But season 5 had the most consistency, I think. As well as the individual episodes being very strong, the season felt coherent as a whole. It was closer to the Buffy- or Supernatural-style one major story per season format, where it really felt like they had a goal to get to by the end of the season and every episode nudged the series closer to that goal. Other seasons tended to bumble aimlessly about until it was big-event-season-finale time, at least in comparison to 5.

Season 7 got close to doing the same thing, but suffers a bit too much from a split personality of complete standalones in the first half and complete serialization in the second half. IMO anyway.

Season 5 just edges it ahead of Season 4.

Season 6 went downhill after You Are Cordially Invited but it still had some great episodes.

If Season 7 had just been the final 9 episodes it would have left a better impression on me but all the filler at the start took up too much time.

I say season 6, with the retaking of DS9, was the peak of the series. Dukat's turn from Complicated Evil to Just Plain Evil was a turn off (why did he want to set the galaxy on fire again?)

Season 5 might be my favorite season of Star Trek ever. Loved every episode and even the episodes that are ridiculed like Let He Who Is Without Sin have moments that I enjoy.

Season 5 was when I started having trouble stopping myself from binge watching the entire season, season 6 had some really great, poignant episodes (Far Beyond the Stars, Valiant, In the Pale Moonlight, and the entertaining Ferengi episodes,) but the last nine (or ten?) episodes of season 7 made me vote for 7. Loved it.

I admit, throughout season 7, I was hoping that Dukat was actually not entirely wrong; that the prophets and pa wraiths were more or less morally equal but had a disagreement. I'm not good at analyzing things, and I haven't read anyone else's take on the series (yet), but it seemed to me Dukat started wanting to set the world on fire after the incident with Ziyal. It seemed like all the things that happened after that moment just served to drive him deeper into crazytown.

I also enjoy this episode. It's not the greatest ever but it's entertaining. Vanessa Williams is a great actress and I enjoyed finding out how Curzon Dax died. Jadzia was always a fun character to watch.

Season 6 was the best one for me, I loved the Dominion War Arc, In The Pale Moonlight is arguably the best Episode DS9 ever aired and in my top 5 Trek episodes ever.

But just so many great episodes in that season.

Also had some lighter material that I thoroughly enjoyed, You are Cordially invited and Who mourns for Morn?

Then you've got some of the more serious episodes I enjoyed as well, I loved Rocks and Shoals, Favor the Bold,Sacrifice of Angels and of course, no list is complete without Far Beyond The Stars.

But then there are less than stellar episodes as well, One Little Ship, Times Orphan and Valiant were just silly crap to me.

Honorable mention to Statistical Probabilities as well.

Treachery, Faith and the Great River is one of my all-time favorite episodes...... and it's season 7.

From seasons 1 through 3?

I would choose season 2, I love the progressive, internal conflict within the Bajorans. Winn and Bareil Antos had better footing in the plots, and Gul Dukat continues to progress as one the best developed antagonist in Star Trek history.
