Which Potential Guest Star Would Have Killed A ST Episode?

I've always felt that Reta Shaw would have been wrong for almost any role on Star Trek. She was fine in her Lost in Space appearance because that was set in "It's a Wonderful Life" America, and she was perfect for old-fashioned-small-town things like The Andy Griffith Show and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, but Star Trek is different. Her parochial and matronly manner just wouldn't fit.

Maybe she could have played Edith's mother in "City on the Edge of Forever." It would almost have to be a time-travel setting.

Given all the Star Trek, Batman & Addams Family crossovers, I was always kind of surprised John Astin never made it onto Trek

I remember back in 1980 or whatever they were talking about a new Trek series and I kept thinking that Robert Tessier (who guested on just about everything back in the day) would have got on board and ruined the new series! Weird to think he never stepped foot on TNG all these years later! Sadly he died in 1990!

Based on the typical roles she played per the wiki, it sounds like she could have played Stella Mudd.

Good call--she nailed the act as a domineering, battleaxe of a mother on an episode of The Monkees, and that would have worked as Stella. Mudd would be beside himself in agony.

What like he did The Riddler in Batman?

I thought he was a good, different Riddler. Sort of an "Earth 2" (for you comic fans out there), so he did not have to mirror Gorshin. I thought he was sly and sort of witty, making the role his own for those two episodes.
