I had bought Season 4 for myself back in November, during the deepdiscount.com 20% off sale.

For Christmas, I ended up with a second copy. I don't have the heart to say "Sorry, already have it, thanks." so I Ood and ah'd. Now, I am going to return it to Best Buy.

I have three choices ... Season 1, Season 2, and Season 3. I plan to get them all eventually, but which one should I get right away?

I would say S1 too, mainly because that's the only box set I don't have. (I just have the vanillas for S1).

Season One, no doubt. It's much stronger, and focused than Season Two. Not to mention, Rose is awesome in season one. In season two, Billie plays her far too "self-aware", in terms of attitude. Plus, season one is the one and only season of the 9th Doctor! Why not have some options, you know? :techman:

What are the extras like on the S1 set? Are they as plentiful as subsequent seasons? Commentaries on all eps, Confidentials, any video diaries?

This is my order of favorite seasons:

1. Season Four
2. Season One
3. (Tie.) Season Two and Three

Season two and three both had some mighty amazing episodes but also had some amazing duds. I didn't like Martha much but I found Rose annoying in her second season, too.

I own a bootleg set, so I don't have any of the extras. So, no idea really...

It has confidentials and commentaries for all eps, but the only video diary is one with Mark Gastiss talking about writing 'The Unquiet Dead.' Eccleston has a short interview thingy, there's a thing with Billie Piper, and a segment on Captain Jack; there's not too much else.

Thanks everyone ... Looks like it was a bust. They only had one copy of season 3, none of 1 or 2, and a handful of season 4. So I got the copy of 3. I'll order season 1 next.

A bit late to the party, but S3 was my choice anyway. In fact, S3 and S4 are the only two I've gotten so far, though I also intend to get them all at some point.

For me, S3's only weak episode is "The Lazarus Experiment", and the stretch from "Human Nature" to the end is my favorite run of episodes of the new show prior to S4. I'd say you came out pretty well.

I buy them as they're released out of habit, and I've found s2 to be the best for re-watching. So many jaw-dropping moments (although I tend to skip disc 1... ugh).

My intention is to eventually have them all - classic and modern - so I will get them anyway.

Each has its pros and cons. There are some weaker episodes in the first three seasons (and none in season 4, imo), and there are some absolutely amazing episodes in each season, so no matter what, I'd get something I'd be happy with.

Now, to find seasons 1 and 2 on the cheap. lol Anyone wanna give me theirs? :D

I have 2-4

I still think I like 3 the most, I have to re-watch 4. I got it two weeks ago and havent finished watching it since I purchased the box set.

^ I'm currently re-watching S4 with the audio commentaries. They've been quite enjoyable, although the one for "The Sontaran Stratagem" was a bit dull. And it was difficult keeping a grin off my face through much of "The Doctor's Daughter." Catherine Tate and Georgia Moffett were like a couple of giggly girls at a slumber party at that one. :D Hands down, though, you can't fail with Tennant and/or RTD on the track.

I'm baffled as to how anyone can come to that conclusion, what with the very existence of the steaming shitpile that is The Unicorn and The Wasp.

Personally I don't think they're capable of a perfect 13 epsode run, they seem to put out at least 2 clunkers every year.

I kind of liked "The Unicorn and the Wasp," though I'd agree that it was probably the weakest of the season.

I'd love to buy the season sets, myself, but they're ridiculously expensive everywhere I've seen them. $75ish for thirteen episodes?
