Which games can you play?

Miss Chicken

Little three legged cat with attitude

Which board or card games can you or do you like to play?

For example do you play any of the following

Chess
Chinese Chess
Chinese Checkers
Checkers
Backgammon
Go

(feel free to add more games)

I have play all those listed except Go. I like Backgammon the most.

My favourite card came (excluding solitaire card games) is Canasta though I also like Euchre, Euchre 500 and Rummy 500.

^Edit: You don't hail from anywhere near NYC, do you? I'm always looking for new partners!

My dad and I used to play backgammon together when I was a kid. He has a beautiful old backgammon set, chocolate and cream. It is a large, hard, dark brown leather portfolio case with two clasps on the top and two stripes of caramel colored leather running down the sides. The leather and clasps are worn with age, but it opens to reveal a perfectly maintained leather and felted board, complete with matching cups for the dice, one red and white pair, and one cream and black. The playing pieces are thick and heavy and always reminded me of dark and white chocolates -- I was always brown. We would play for hours at a time, and it's one of my fondest childhood memories.

I also grew up playing Scrabble, and am a current, and evermore, Scrabble addict. I am good too. Really good. I've met only one person who can beat me on a regular basis, and I haven't lost a game (played an average of 5 a week), in over 4 months against 9 different opponents. My last regular Scrabble score (today's) was 567, and my highest Super Scrabble score was over 1200. My highest scoring single turn was 200 points: "adjoint."

I quite like Scrabble too but like you I don't really have anyone to play it with. I like UpWords more than Scrabble.

I don't really like to play two player games online. I would much prefer to play in real-life.

I'll exclude all the kid games and standard family games, like Monopoly, Risk and Sorry.

^Edit: You don't hail from anywhere near NYC, do you? I'm always looking for new partners!

I'm in the city all the time. Hence all the NYC meet-ups :p

I'm very rusty at scrabble do to lack of play opportunities, but I love words.
Hee...I never check the meet-ups. I'm not a competitive player, despite my pleasure in high scores -- that's more about beating myself than anyone else. Like you, I love words. I like to get the most unusual, fun words I can. I'm also a poor speller, which is a serious deficiency, so I'm sure you could handle me. ;)

Not been feeling well lately, but maybe we should set up a Scrabble date? Me and you and some other players from the BBS. I'll make a note of it and post in the meet-ups in a few weeks when I'm feeling better! I have only one regular partner in NYC (I was playing in Seattle this summer) -- my roommates won't play me because they never win. :(

Monopoly, 21, checkers and chess. [Yeah yeah yeah yeah... - everyone]

Plus a few others, like Scrabble (a lifesaver when the TV broke when I was 12 ), Contract Bridge (something I learned to play at university), Hearts, Ludo (a variation of Parcheesi), Uno (we played it a lot as a kid), Draw Poker, Othello, and other things I might be up for if anyone's free... ;)

^I know it's a tad out of the way for you, but I'd love to meet you over a game of Scrabble. You should come to New York! We can argue over superfluous u's! :)

 And superfluous O's and A's, as in oesophagus and diarrhoea and haemorrhage and paediatrician [Stop it, you're traumatising the kid - someone] - oh, and S's instead of Z's too. ;)

Mind you, I've never seen the Atlantic Ocean before, let alone flown over it. :)

Sounds like a great idea.

Are Brit Scrabble boards the same as American ones, or do they come with more vowels? I suppose they don't, but Ive wondered that for awhile.

board
chess
scrabble sometimes I play this on my little DS as my partner's not too keen on it)
Monopoly
dominoes

card games
some form of poker but I forget
blackjack
freecell
solitare

some of these are on my little DS so if I get board on the sometimes long jounrey to London I can whip it out and play to my hearts content

I believe they come with fewer Z's for a more "civilised" language. ;)

Joking aside, a quick Internet search suggests there's just the one English language set, for whatever form of English one speaks. (They should include a Chav set, with fewer T's and H's, and more U's and V's... inni' Bruv?)

However, I'll still take you up on your offer - if I can get over to the Big Apple and not get lost when I get there. :)

I like cardgames and board games quite a lot. :D

My favourite card games are Burraco, Gin Rummy and Machiavelli, using French cards.
Using Italian cards, Trevigiane in particular, I like to play Scopa and Briscola the most.

As for board games, my favourites as a kid were Gioco dell'Oca, Checkers, Operation, Viaggio in Italia and Guess Who. Nowadays I love Trivial Pursuit, Twenty Questions, Monopoly and sometimes Risk.
I don't actually like to play Risk because of my unbelievable bad luck with dice though. :vulcan:

I don't really play them these days, but I used to play Risk & Monopoly a bit. A little bit of Backgammon too.

I don't have anywhere near the patience required for Chess, and Draughts never grabbed me.

I used to play a little casual Poker and sometimes a little Whist and even occasionally Bridge (I was bloody awful at it, mind you! )

I love board games. I've been known to host a game night every once in a while and invite people over. I can be more entertained playing games than going out to a bar or club and spending a ton of money.

I'm particularly fond of:
Monopoly
Trivial Pursuit
SceneIt
Scattergories
Taboo
Last Word
Apples to Apples
Pictionary
Cranium
Scrabble
Loaded Questions
Clue

I've played Chess, Checkers, Monopoly, Backgammon, Trivial Pursuit (and similar games) and Pictionary. I think I've played Scattergories; it sounds familiar. I've played Scrabble and various traditional card games like Poker, but not for many years.

Preference to Scrabble. Not too many people to play with though.

I love scrabble although I'm not great at it. Everytime I visit my aunt we play about five games. For years she won all of them until the last time I was there, in May, when I finally beat her. It was a victory for the ages!
