Which episodes or movies deserved sequels?

In all of Trek, which episodes, ideas, plots, etc. do you think were most deserving of an on-screen, canonical follow-up? For me, I'd have to say

1) V'Ger - I have always been curious what came of V'ger. I don't know if an episode of the show could have done the idea justice, but I would have loved to see the attempt.

2) Conspiracy Aliens - I know these aliens morphed into the Borg, leaving this plot thread hanging. I also know some books suggest this race is related to the Trill... disregarding all of that, I do think the idea was strong enough it deserved a follow up, at the very least for some closure.

I know that this was in the thinking about stage at one point, but I still think a return to Sigma Iotia would have been fascinating.

"The Chase". Granted the episode itself could have been a two-parter or a movie, but that ending there with Picard and the Romulan commander (http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Galathon) could have been followed up on. Episodes "The Defector" and "Unification" too come to think of it.

They could have done it in a two-parter (like the Klingon civil war in "Redemption") or a movie where the Romulan Star Empire dissolves in favor of Romulan-Vulcan reunification and new baddies could have arisen from the previously oppressed Romulan holdings. Would Romulan pride require a temporary secession of Vulcan from the UFP until the new Romulan/Vulcan state gels and the Vulcans can bring them into the light? During which time, how powerful is this new state and what trouble will it get in, vis a vis reaction from previous Romulan subject worlds to their once masters now that they're no longer the overarching duranium fisted empire they once were - a quid pro quo requirement of the Vulcans.

...Wow this would have really changed the landscape of the Star Trek universe. It might have required a half dozen episodes in TNG (like their ones with the Klingons during the course of the series) or would need to be a continuing arc on DS9 like the Maquis, Bajoran, Cardassian, Dominion, or Ferengi or Mirror Universe arcs. On the up-side, there'd be less confusion for casual viewers between Romulans and Vulcans - they'd be the same.

Well personally I would have love to see Enterprise continues for another 3 seasons to show everything leading to the creation for the Federation and backstories of previous elements.

Other than that, without being a full episode, it would be funny to see if there are still humpback whales on Earth in TNG era...

TNG "Second Chances" got a sequel in the form of DS9 "Defiant", but I wish they'd given us an ending to the Tom Riker story that didn't leave him rotting in a Cardassian jail.

Well there are a few episodes and movies I would love to see sequels of. There is one thing I like to see. I would like to see either tv episodes or a movie prequel in between the last episode of TOS season 3, and the first Star Trek movie "The Motion Picture". The reason I say that is because I want to see how Kirk became a Admiral. The tv series and the movies don't explain how he became a Admiral. I'm just curious as how and why that happened. I just want to know if he really wanted the promation or if he was regreting it. I know in the movies he did things so he could get back to being a Captain, and in the end he succeeded. Anyways there is something else I wouldnt mind seeing. I would like to see what happened to the crew of TOS in between TOS ended and the time before "The Motion Picture". I know there are books about it, but I would love to see a show or movie as to what become of them, besides Kirk. There is gap there, that I think should be filled and explained. I also would like to see what become of all of TOS crew after "Undiscovered Country" and "Genarations" the part after Kirk dispears in the Nexus. I would love to see all those I discussed in a show or movie, not just a book.

Absolutely! Later in the series, he could have been rescued (either intentionally or incidentally) and contributed to the war effort. I'm assuming there was something like this in the brainstorming sessions at some point, but Frakes had bigger fish to fry at the time (directing, etc.).

This is something Abrams and his writers obviously didn't give any thought to. I would have preferred a new Trek movie dealing with the TOS crew's experiences between the original series and the first movie, as opposed to some silly re-imagining.

I heard that the producers lost interest in him after that point and told writers not to bother pitching any scripts about him. I still think it was a shame though.

Yeah, I always thought that was a shame, too.

Wasn't that the more realistic outcome, than constantly having characters that the audience likes rescued from all sorts of situations?

Maybe, but this is Star Trek, damn it! :p

I'm fiddling with a fanfic sequel to "Journey to Babel." I wondered what happened next.
Tthe Orion pirates, seeing one of their sources of dilithium drying up if Coridan joins the federation, stage a desperate blockade of the system hoping to force the fed out. Federation diplomats dissemble and waffle. When a Starfleet ship is attacked by Orions while stationed at Coridan, The Enterprise and some other starships are sent as a show of force. A stalemate ensues thanks to wussy politicians who won't let our guys shoot first. Kirk (still healing from his knife wound and in no mood to screw around) finally gets fed up, and uses a small incident as an excuse to move in and, um, resolve the situation. With phasers.

The Alpha and the Gamma Jem'Hadar rivalries from "One Little Ship" should have been followed up. It would have been cool to have a Jem'Hadar civil war. They will play some kind of role in Star Trek: Online I've heard.

"One Little Ship" is a pretty good episode, but most people probably liked the Jem'Hadar rivalry subplot better than the "A" story. They cast good actors to play those Jem'Hadar.
