Which edition of "Robotech" DVDs to get?

I posted a week or two ago asking if 'Robotech' was available for legal online streaming because I couldn't find it, and the only answer was that it wasn't. I'm debating buying the DVDs so my nephews can watch it (note: I only have a DVD player, not BluRay). It looks like there are numerous editions available. Which do y'all recommend? Thanks!

Whichever version you get, buy it second hand, so Harmony Gold don't profit, and hopefully die a quick death. Maybe then we can get the Macross franchise.

The Macross saga is the only part of Robotech that's really worth watching. (My preference is the original Japanese version.)
