About Ghost Light ... It's one of the cheapest Who titles out there. It's about eleven dollars right now, new, several dollars cheaper than other one-disc titles. Is it really that bad, that they're basically giving this one away?

Edit - After reading some of the reviews on Amazon, there seem to be a small group who really love it, and a majority who think it's a convoluted mess. I think I have my answer with that.

I mean sure, I'll own it, but it'll be later.

Ghost Light is one of those things that you can kind of comprehend, but the actual meaning is just out of reach - at least that's how I felt the last time I watched it. The first time I watched it, my reaction was "what the **** was that?"

Last time I tried to watch Ghost Light I gave up after episode 2!

Can't say I'm a huge fan of Planet of Evil, but I think Destiny is underated. Romana 2 is fab, it has Dalek suicide bombers and it has the Movellans!! Grooviest alien race in Who History.

I demand Moffat brings them back!

Bring Back the Movellans! We should start a club...

Definitely!

I mean think about it, if the Daleks dissapeared to fight the time war, the Movellans should have taken over the universe!

The clear winner in this is Talons.

Now on their way to me are Talons of Weng-Chiang, Ghost Light, and the Peter Cushing box set.
Checklist - the only Doctor Who (and spin-offs) dvds I don't have are: Planet of Evil, Destiny of the Daleks, Curse of Fenric, and Torchwood season 1.

With my birthday coming up at the end of this month, I'll probably have all of them soon. Until the next set of releases in September. And November. lol

Damn, I'm jealous. I'm nowhere close to having all of the available DVDs. I only have 33 serials and that's not even half of them! I only have the basic set for The Key to Time and Remembrance of the Daleks, so I'm going to have to double dip with them. Plus I may have to repurchase Inferno because one of the episodes is jacked up. *sigh*

A problem I have, though, is finding time to watch them. I like to watch the complete story, and then listen to the commentary (or, in some cases, commentaries) with the text commentary playing, and go through the special features (unless it's just a Terrance Dicks interview, I can't stand him as a person, you see).

That's typically around 5-6 hours per story. Which means 1) though pricey, they do pack the dvds with content, and 2) even for the really lousy stories, there's *something* on the discs to like.

Yeah, I hear you about time consuming. I got The Invasion of Time a few months ago but I never got around to listening to the commentary. I kind of wish I brought it (and a few others that I still haven't listened to the commentaries of) with me to Japan.

But, on the flip side, I can get The War Games, Black Orchid, The Deadly Assassin, The Black Guardian trilogy, Image of the Fendahl, The E-Space trilogy and a few others while I'm here. Unfortunately, the only way I can get them is via Amazon (which means waiting!).
