I went with the 6th Doctor's coat (his real one, not the fake blue one he never wore). Its a tacky eyesore, but its a gloriously awesome tacky eyesore in my opinion. Its also instantly recognizable, no one can mistake the 6th Doctor at a glance. I know its not a popular look, but in my opinion its the best.

The Fourth Doctor's look is iconic, but that doesn't necessarily make it the best. Plus, the 4th Doctor loses a lot of points with me for the atrocious "Crimson Doctor" outfit, which I personally consider the worst (canon) Doctor Who attire. Draping Tom baker in red from head to toe is, to me, more confusing then approving the 6th Doctor's coat (as much as I love 6's attire, it makes no sense that anyone actually allowed it on air, although I'm glad they did).

To be fair, most Doctor's have something about their attire that makes them easily recongniseable. I suppose 10 without his trenchcoat is the closest to being just a normally dressed guy.

I love Eleven's second outfit. If it were brown or black it probably wouldn't be as eye-catching. The purple really adds flair.

Not a fan of the burgundy look for Four, either, but it counts as a second outfit, for me. First is a combination of every outfit that utlizes the original scarf of his.

And as much as I dislike Six's suit, I've gotten used to it and can say its distictive. Maybe not in a good way, but it is recognizable certainly. But since you brought it up.. I LOVE the blue variation of it.

Its fine to like fan photoshop and fan designed attires. But, it counts about as much as these

The big difference being that the pictures I posted, at the very least, look interesting. Blueberry Doctor is the single worst fan design I've ever seen. Luckily, its also exactly as "canon" as the pictures I just posted.

Also, doens't the Eleventh have three outfits, basically? The second being the one worn in the last episodes of series 6.

Those are sort of amazing.

I voted 6th.

I think Capaldi's is the most "doctor"ish of nuWho, but Smith I think is also pretty iconic.

I find most of Capaldi's outfits entirely too normal, much like Eccleston's, and the crisp white shirt buttoned all the way up is just kind of awkward on him for some reason. I personally really like the red variant of 4 and appreciated most of the variations that Smith had. Pertwee had some good and some really awful outfits, Both of Tennant's were sharp and well suited(badumchish) and for the most part I could take or leave the rest of them.

I still think Davison's outfit suits him perfectly, I love the cricketing motif, though obviously it would have worked better as a more thrown together, second hand look rather than the uniform look that he had (same with Tom's final look, and 6 and 7 also)

In terms of the modern Doctors I actually dislike 11's purple suit, partly because it has that uniform look we hadn't seen since the classic era, but also because it seems out of kilter with the influences of all the modern Doctors. Classic Who was all about a Victorian/Edwardian look, whereas nuWho has always been a bit more mid/late 20th Century/early 21st. (Though having said all that I liked 12's look in Mummy on the Orient Express)

Nine- U-Boat captain 1940s jacket.
Ten- 1940s Spiv meets 1970s cop
Eleven (initially) 1940s/1950s boffin
Twelve alternating stage/street magician look (I prefer Capaldi's scruffy hoodie look if I'm honest, just wish he'd settle on a look!)

People often rag on Six's suit without remembering the context of the show at the time. It was the 80s... EVERYTHING in the children / family entertainment industry was brightly coloured and mismatched. Everyone remember Jem and the Holograms? Flocks of seagulls atop Don Johnson's head? EVERYONE'S EXERCISE GEAR?!

There's a reason so many of us forget that the 80s were a horrible time for fashion in the grand scale of things. Alas, Whovians will always have Six's coat to remind them.

I went with the Seventh's. It has the balance of both normal and eccentric with the hat and that hideous pullover. Of course, towards the end, the pullover was replaced by a nice waistcoat.

Always liked this take on the evolution of the Seventh's costume, taking into account a period in the novels (?) where he was described once as "the man in white" (or something like that):

I wasn't fond of the ninth doctor's look. Not nearly rakish enough.

That's kind of the problem. He's not supposed to follow current fashion. The Doctor's outfit has always been associated with an older era, typically that of an Edwardian dandy. Pertwee was kind of the pinnacle of that with the lace and the cape whereas Tom Baker was more tramp-like but still a decidedly old-school look.

The 6th Doctor's outfit was horrible at the time.
It seems better in hindsight. But in 1986 it was embarrassing.
