Whether if flops or succeeds...

I am convinced that Star Trek XI will be the most excellent movie ever. I heard Jesus is in it. It will end war, raise the dead, cure cancer, smell like flowers, feed the masses, enlarge penis/breast size, and turn water into wine. Not only that, but it will be 4 hours long, and each moment will be like an orgasm. Just like a dip in the fountain of youth, we will emerge from the theator actually 4 hours younger than when we entered. And with 12 extra IQ points. Also I like the look of the shuttle thing.

So I'm felling pretty good about it.

Wait...Finnegan is being reimagined? NO!!!!!! MUST FAIL!!!!

Oops! Sorry I didn't answer your question correctly. I certainly do hope the movie succeeds because Star Trek needs a good success after the abysmal failure of the last movie and TV series, and I am fond of this franchise and want to see it deliver good entertaining stories again. Nothing I've seen so far has made me hope that this movie will fail, and I have a hard coming up with any set of circumstances that would make me WANT this movie to fail.

^ All of a sudden I had a flash of that nutjob who 'defended' Brittany Spears screaming "Leave Shatner ALOOOONNNNEEEE!!!"
Yes, but who will we see in front of the sheet, this time?

Be frightened. Be very frightened.
Now I get it... Britney shaved her head because she wants to be a sexy Deltan! :guffaw:
[NOTE] My apologies for the typo in the title.

I don't see why anyone would want any movie to fail, let alone a Star Trek movie by people on a Star Trek message board.

I do hope that this movie succeeds enough such that more movies (or tv shows) are put into play.

I really want this new Star Trek to be amazing and successful. On paper, it seems to have everything going for it that I feel a new Trek project needs - a talented leader (JJ Abrams) leading a team of talented and creative people behind the scenes; an influx of new blood that is so badly needed in this franchise; a return to Trek's roots; a big budget needed for an epic blockbuster film; the inclusion of ILM for visual effects; approval from Leonard Nimoy and what sounds like a lot of support from the original TOS cast.

It all sounds great so far! So I'm very happy!

Isn't it somewhat unnerving that we haven't heard anything from Zoe Saldana?

We usually hear form the cast when they have other projects coming out (like Pegg's "Run, fat boy, run).
Zoe doesn't seem to have anything coming out in the near future (Is Avatar coming our before or after Trek now?).

I hope it succeeds, because I love Star Trek. I would like to see more in the future. Why would anyone want it to fail?

Whether the movie flops or succeeds... we are all anxiously waiting for the release!

My question to you... based on what you KNOW about the movie, AT THIS TIME, do you hope it succeeds or fails & why?
I hope it's a good movie; and if the first condition is satisfied; that it preforms well. I do not have sufficient data to determine whether or not it is a good movie for certain - as this is subjective; only viewing the movie itself will allow me to make up my mind. Without this data I wouldn't form an opinion on whether it should succeed or not.

I hope it surprises us, and I hope the big surprise is that it's not a prequal at all...I can't think of a prequal in movie history that was not a flop

I'll rent the DVD.

But how it does at the box office is meaningless.

I know next to nothing about the film, but I do hope it succeeds. Of course I know it deals with Star Trek and not much else.
