Whether if flops or succeeds...

Whether the movie flops or succeeds... we are all anxiously waiting for the release!

My question to you... based on what you KNOW about the movie, AT THIS TIME, do you hope it succeeds or fails & why?

Being new, this is my way of getting to know some of you. I hope you all participate!

Much love,:vulcan:

Personally I don't understand people who want a movie to fail. This is just entertainment — there are more important things in live to worry about.

Oh, and of course I'm looking forward to it! I'm happy about the direction this seems to go. Up until now they have done almost everything right. Now let's hope they can live up to our expectations. :bolian:

Thanks NCC-1701 (i LOVE your avatar) & number6: those were quick responses... I hope more will answer too.

I haven't seen, heard, or read anything yet that I don't like. :techman:

I'm not falling all over myself about how amazing Quinto is going to be (as some others around here are), but I'm sure he'll do just fine.

Honestly? I hope it succeeds. I doubt this cast will accept a demotion to a TV spin-off... so all this has little bearing on the future of the franchise in that direction. But its success will prove the continued interest in Star Trek. Frankly, I imagine one or two will have worked a way out of their contract by the time a sequel rolls around... similar to Kirstie Alley's Saavik.

More than anything, I'm heartened by the things Simon Pegg keeps saying in interviews.

The red uniforms in the spy pictures (at least the group shots) look a bit too much like prison uniforms to me, but that's just a quibble.

All said, I think Trek is in good hands. The buzz coming from those who know more than us seems sincerely good to this point.

I hope it succeeds!
There's no reason anyone should actually want for this movie to fail. Its not an attitude I understand.

I'm looking forward to it, I surely hope it succeeds and I really believe it will! I'm a very optimistic person.

People who want it to fail need to get a life, but I doubt anyone here actually hopes the movie flops. Some say they don't want to see it, but that's a different matter entirely.

As far as I can tell, it's a kind of jockeying for position to be first in line to say "Ha ha! I told you it was going to suck!" when the movie comes out.

Yes, that's pretty silly, but this is the Internet... where silly reaches for new heights on a daily basis. Eh, it's entertaining, some of the time.
(*waves to Stewey* :D )

I'm hoping it succeeds but just a little if only because I'd prefer a TV series reimagining. I'd prefer a more regular fix of new Trek, especially if it's reboot flavored.

I'm sure if this movie proves a success, it'll open up a return for Trek to return to tv sooner then later.

Why would anyone want it to fail? Seems rather sour grapes-ish to me.

Anyway, I hope it is a huge success.

Well, according to Dennis' signature, William Shatner himself wants it to fail!!! :klingon:

And that quote is 100% in context and 100% not a joke! :scream:

So if he wants it to fail, what hope do the rest of us have?!?

I hate you William Shatner! And your little dog, too!

^ All of a sudden I had a flash of that nutjob who 'defended' Brittany Spears screaming "Leave Shatner ALOOOONNNNEEEE!!!"

Yes, but who will we see in front of the sheet, this time?

Be frightened. Be very frightened.

I'm a diehard fan who keeps coming back ever hopeful. I so wanted ENT to succeed and, even though it was not as good as the others, I watched it religiously and was surprised and disappointed when it was cancelled. I also wanted NEM to be the best of the Next Gen films and was very disappointed with that as well. Depressed by its recent failures, I nevery bought into the rampant rumors that we wouldn't see another itteration of Trek for 10 or more years, hoping that Jonathon Frakes would somehow be given the reigns and get Trek back on course. I still think he's the best choice to handle the next Trek TV series.

As for STXI, I'm confident it will be a fun, dramatic, and enjoyable film. Everything I've read and seen so far has led me to that conclusion. The sets, costumes, cast, crew, budget, etc. all seem to be what will be needed to pull it off successfully.
