Has there been any spoilers released by the writers or producers of Universe as to where exactly they were going with the "signal at the end of the universe" thing. Was it supposed to be God or something else that the team was going to find?

The universe doesn't have an edge or a centre. Destiny was collecting pieces of the puzzle, it had no final destination. I do know that the writers had the ending planned out since the beginning, but they'd never revealed what it would have been, and I'm not sure they ever will. If anyone reveals it it'll probably be Brad Wright, but he doesn't have much of an online presence, and Joe Mallozzi is unwilling to spill the beans. I would hope, and I think, given their track record, that the finale would have nothing to do with a deity. I think I'd probably ritualistically burn the DVD's if it did. I can't take another bullshit supernatural cop out after BSG and Lost...

I know what you mean. I was hoping that they weren't going in that direction, but I hadn't heard anything anywhere about any "spoilers." Wish we knew since Stargate doesn't appear to be coming back.
That would probably be the most Stargate-like thing to do.
I can see it now; they collect enough data to finally decipher the message and at first it is just static, but then they can start to hear something and all of them are shocked when it is Rush's voice giving them instructions or a warning etc.

They did say that the resolution would tie into all three series, and would be difficult to top. I'm thinking that maybe Destiny started the Ancient civilization by going into the past somehow. That would neatly explain the 'second evolution' nonsense, and also why religious fanatacism persisted with the Alterans for so long.
