Where was the surprise appearance by the Avians?

So, I'm watching Star Trek, Enterprise on SyFy right now, as I assume many of you are...

So, as with all other times I've viewed the last few episodes of season 3, what happened to the surprise appearance by the Avians? I believe they could have went as far as making the Avians responsible for saving all of Xindikind and Mankind.

(Really...An entire race lost because they resisted leaving the Xindi home world during the war? There were no Avians living elsewhere? It's almost as if they had no choice but to introduce the Avians at the end of season three?)

I still can't help but notice all the different times when an appearance by the Avians would have made a lot of sense...They mention them so much, it seems like a let-down that they never did write them back into the Xindi arch somehow?

Actually the issue is the fact no Avian was off world, when there was a Avian colony elsewhere.

I also kept expecting them to show up. Everything seemed to point to it. Either they show up and turn the tide, or it is revealed that the sphere builders wiped out the Avians because they resisted them and that knowledge is what turned all the Xindi against the sphere builders.

I thought it would have been cool as hell to have some Avians in ENT. I'm guessing they came from the drawing board of potential Xindi races and ended up being extinct just because they had to cut something for budget. It was expensive to have the insect Xindi as it was. I wasn't expecting them to show up like you were, but I did wish they wouldn't have been extinct.

The appearance was lost with the huge role Julia Rose was supposed to play as the MACO MacKenzie.

Remember how much they promoted that? For what, one scene?

I don't think they ever intended to show the Avians. For one reason it would be expensive and I think they just liked the idea that one of the Xindi races was wiped out. It was an extra bit of tragedy in the Xindi backstory.

The Avians DID make a 'surprise appearance' per se. There was a Avian skull on display in Degra's room.

That's why I liked it. In a way it bound the Xindi together, that they had lost one of their own races. In fighting always had the specter of that tragedy looming over it.

Indeed. Kind of weird really, I mean it's a SKULL. How long ago did they die?

"Alas, poor Avian! I knew him, Horatio: a Xindi
of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy: he hath
borne me on his back a thousand times; and now, how
abhorred in my imagination it is! my gorge rims at
it. Here hung those lips that I have kissed I know
not how oft. Where be your gibes now? your
gambols? your songs? your flashes of merriment,
that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one
now, to mock your own grinning? quite chap-fallen?
Now get you to the Guardian, and tell her, let
her disrupt space, to these coordinates she must
come; make her laugh at that."

That probably is a lot funnier in my mind than it is on the screen. The last two posts about the skull just put that image in my head, for some reason.

Sometime in the 2030's according to Memory Alpha.

Maybe they should've used the Avians and had the insects extinct.

The Xindi insectoids made the least sense; the other races were endoskeleton vertebrates.

Archer: "How did the insectoids die out?"

Degra: "We exterminated them."

Archer: "You wiped out a sentient species?"

Degra "Dude, they were giant bugs. Would you live next to a humanoid-sized bug?"

Reminds me, Extinction could've been the Avian's last attempt to save their species with a virus. Maybe that would've given that episode more relevance.
