Where was the Enterprise E during the dominion war?

I thought i ask this here, since the Dominion war was big part of DS9!

I recently finished rewatching DS9 on netflix, its my favorite Trek series, but i always wonder about something, and wanted to see if any of you had thoughts on the question.

Did the Enterprise-E fight in any Dominion war battles? I know they didn't mention it on the show, but i find it odd that Enterprise-E didn't lead a fleet of ships or was in a dominion battle! Since the E is Sovereign class star ship it's one the Federations most advanced ships, looks like it would help in the war. Is there any other Sovereign class ships? (The Uss Sovereign)

Is there any non-canon books on the subject? I would like to know.

Paramount wouldn't let them use the Sovereign class on TV, because they wanted to keep it as a movie exclusive design. It's the same reason we never saw the refit Constitution outside of the TOS movies.

The Ent-E was off on missions, but since it couldn't be in DS9 they didn't bother mentioning any of them.

There is a TNG novel duology called "The Dominion War," and there is also one called "The Battle of Betazed." Not sure if there are anything other books that deal with the Enterprise, though.

Yea, that what i figured the real reason was!

Is that also why we didn't see any other Intrepid Class star ships in dominion battles?

Cool! I will have to check them out! Thanks

I started reading that series, but quickly lost interest due to the author's repeated insistance that the Enterprise needed to drop shields in order to fire her weapons.

It might sound like a nitpicker's issue, but I like to think that the people that write for the franchise are slightly more knowledgable of the franchise than some random person who walks off the street who can string together a sentence or two.

That sounds like an issue that any fan would have, very odd indeed! I guess they didnt read all the writers guides.

I would imagine that the E-E was either fighting on another front or part of the rear guard - if the Dominion come with "the big push" you're going to want the Sovereign behemoths ready to counter them!

I always imagined that the Sovereign was a bit of a hangar queen. Badass high-performance ship, most advanced in the fleet, with tech that not many other ships have. Not as many critical (IE, non-replicable) parts available on the front line for the Sovvies. Not as many repair crews experienced with the design. So, we don't see them much because they need more babying than older, more proven ships, and because the supply line isn't as established.

Fanfic, I know, but that's my take on it.

The behind-the-scenes description is dead on, yeah. Remember folks, all TV viewers are as intelligent as a bag of rocks. That includes us Trekkies.

The big E was most likely out fighting battles not seen on screen. Earth, Betazed, Vulcan and other core planets of the Federation were attacked by the Dominion and it's allies. In my head cannon the ENT-E was defending these core planets.

In TNG season 6 Chain of Command the ENT-D was to be the first line in the conflict with the Cardassians.

FC showed us that compared to the ENT-E the Defiant is just a tough little tinker toy. Also The ENT-E is a Sovereign class warship. Most of the battles we saw in DS9 featured Galaxy class (which are still relatively new), as well as the Miranda and Excelsior class which are nearly 100 year old models seen all the way back in Kirk's days. There is no way in hell the Federation which was on the brink of losing the war would use tired old ships like Miranda and Excelsior and not use the Borg buster ship like a Sovereign class.

The events of Insurrection very probably happend at the conclusion of the Dominion war. With the ENT-E trying to recover from the billions of casualties from the war. Starfleet officials collaborating transparently with Dominion allies the Son'a. There is not way Starfleet would collaborate with the enemy that produce the Jem Hadar's serum in a peaceful way during war time. Also Worf being away on a diplomatic mission and in no immediate hurry to return to DS9 seems to put Insurrection after the war's conclusion. Worf is the tactical officer of DS9 and the 1st officer of the Defiant. With DS9 being the flash point for much of the war. Worf's absence from DS9 at such a critical time seems unlikely.

Studying anomalous anomalies in rock formations on a deserted planet in the Devrous system while looking the she-demon Audra

It was such a long time ago that I don't even remember that. I do remember not being terribly impressed with the books, but I'm not sure why.

My question is not where was the Ent E, but where was the Dominion War in the TNG films!! Insurrection should have been scrapped, for a bigger Dominion War tie-in film.
