Where was Nero and ship taken after Kelvin encounter??

Re: Where in the World Was Nero/Narada? [spoilers]

Where was it ever said that it was a borg ship?

Countdown comics (#3 I think?)...Narada was just a simple Romulan mining ship to start with but after the destruction of Romulus, Nero kills the remaining Romulan High Command and finds the location of a secret weapons facility where the Romulans have been re-engineering Borg technology (presumably from their war with them stretching back to before Season 1 TNG). They "assimilate" the Narada and it becomes the tentacled, V'ger-esque ship in the movie.

Re: Where in the World Was Nero/Narada? [spoilers]

I suspect Nero went drinking and shagging on Risa until he got into a rather nasty argument with a vacationing Klingon over the great tribble hunt.

Re: Where in the World Was Nero/Narada? [spoilers]

Incidently, a cool factoid. The name Narada presumably comes from the Hindu sage who was a travelling monk said to be able to travel to distant worlds, dimensions and solar systems.

I think that's a pretty clever choice of name so I respect the writers for that.

What was Nero doing during those missing 25 years?

What exactly was the bulk of Starfleet engaged in at the Lorentis system? A military exercise? A battle against some unknown foe?

Any others?

Re: Unanswered Questions that beg answering

Why didn't Nero just use the "red matter" to destroy the star that will blow up his homeworld in ~100 years?

(1) in prison, rura penthe

(2) that is a good question. i think it is related to the familiar "only ship in the quadrant" phenomenon

maybe he did.

Re: Unanswered Questions that beg answering

He didn't have any red matter, did he? Wasn't it on Spock's ship? Anyway, he might still have found a way of stopping the nova, who knows? No-one said he didn't.

Oh good point. He could have mined some though.

Re: Unanswered Questions that beg answering

Maybe he spent 25 years finding an alternative way of stopping the nova or he, like you said, used the time to mine some red matter and figure out how the hell it worked.
