Watching this old old old episode and it will take them 300 years at maximum warp to return home.. there 3 galaxies away.. but will take voyager 70 years to return from the other side of the galaxy?!? enterprise with older engine designs is 9 times faster then voyager? wow!! lol I know I know old episode comparing to new but still kind of funny

Star Trek has never been consistent with warp drive and the time it takes to travel. In TOS' That Which Survives, the Enterprise is thrown nearly 1,000 light years, but is able to warp back to the planet in a matter of hours or days.
I don't think it was until Voyager that they decided 70,000 light years = 70 years. Earlier in The Price, Picard mentioned 80 years to reach the Gamma Quadrant.

They also passed warp 10 which in Voyager is infinity speed and reaching it turns you into a hyper evolved salamander* but they did it all the time in TOS like it was no biggie...

Of course, a big ship being nine times faster than a small one isn't really that much of a whopper. Heck, it was an unyielding fact back in the days of sailing!
It might also be slower going when you have to swerve past all those pesky stars within a galaxy, compared with the smooth vistas outside galaxies.

All this time I thought Enterprise and the JJ-verse were the suckmeisters around here.
To go with the Voyager speeds it should have taken the Enterprise 3000 years to get home from Galaxy M33, although since they would need to refill on Deuterium and Crystals and stuff, they wouldn't make it very far.
In TFF, the Ent-A goes from Earth to the center of the galaxy and back in a matter of days. The original Ent does the same in The Magicks of Megas-Tu.
Let's make a rough estimate here... Andromeda is approximately 2.5 million light-years from us. Let's triple that as a rough guess -- let's say 8 million light-years -- if the E-D is three galaxies away. That's over 26,000 light-years per year. That'd make Voyager's trip only 3 years. That's also 73 light-years per day. So one could get to Vulcan (16 lys from Earth) in just 5 hours.
Look, subspace in the Delta Quadrant has a different density than in the Alpha Quadrant. It can't be warped that easily. That's why ships are slower even at the maximum warp factor their engines can achieve.
We don't know how far away the Enterprise is, though.

The reason the time is all off with this episode and the others is that the other ships didn't have the creepy ass, mitten wearing Traveler to make eyes at the younger crew members and disappear into a fart cloud!
You need a creep factor to travel at warp at high speeds and long distances!

In Q Who the Enterprise was 7000 ly away and it would have taken them two and a half years.
In Voyager they needed to pick a time frame that seemed like a lifetime so they were happy just dividing by 1000.
But, according to technical manuals published in the TNG time frame, 1000 times the speed of light is warp 8, and that's always been treated as the sustainable cruising speed.
