Where is steve austin?

Are they ever going to come out with an offical release of The Six Million Dollar Man? I know you can get copies of the show from 'other sources',but is universal going to do an offical release???

I loved that show. Yes, it got murky later on, but in its prime, that show was my favorite show, or at least one of them...I had the doll, you know, the one you could look through the back of the head like it was a bionic eye...

Bigfoot, Fembots (the originals), John Houseman, and yes, Jamie and Oscar and Rudy???

...we will make him better than he was before...better....STRONGER...FASTER!!!

As 'realistic' as the new Bionic Woman show was, I still pefer Lee Majors and Lindsey Wagner versions of 'Bionic'. Laughable plots, but far more fun to watch, IMO, than the recent BW woman on NBC. And I think the American public pretty much agreed, since its ratings dropped harder than a man an erection turning the channel and coming across THE GOLDEN GIRLS..

The early episodes of the Six Million Dollar Man were vastly superior. If you could sum up those episodes in one sentence it would be, "Like James Bond, just with the gadgets on the inside of his body."

I think what is holding up this series from DVD is the same thing that's holding up the Batman tv series. Two studios holding rights to the property, and they cannot agree who should get what profits.

I am so glad Jim Carrey's comedy version of SIX MILLION..didn't get the greenlight...aren't you?

But yeah, I agree, the early episodes were great. But I did love the yearly team up with Jamie. Damn I miss those shows!!

I have very fond memories of the "Death Probe" episode(s) that would probably only be ruined by actually seeing the death probe episode... same goes for the uberscary bigfoot episode, which scared the daylights out of me when I was seven or so when it came out.

Darn. Youtube used to have the whole episode with the "Death Probe" but it was removed. I wanted to watch it again.

Dick Martin was on a parody show (I don't think it was Laugh-In) back in the 70's where he was the "Six Dollar Ninety Eight Cent Man, Steve Exhaustion". He had parts and pieces hanging off of his body. It was pretty funny.

I should check the back of the DVD release we got months ago around here (because we do have The Six Million Dollar Man on DVD in Belgium).

Would it be possible it's not official?

Its hard to say..I recently purchased the Macahans (a western from the late 70s) and it is obvious with the TBS logo in the bottom right it was recorded off of TV...but the quality is good. But I don't think an official version of The Six Million Dollar Man is available here in the states....probaby tied up in rights hell as someone said earlier..

I loved this show when I was a kid. What was the scary robot tank looking thingy called? That used to freak me out.

Huh..I can't remember that one. But yeah, I think UNIVERSAL was stupid to not cash in the The Bionic Womens very limited popularity and release the old stuff like Universal did with nuBSG came on the air...dumb dumb dumb...

Oh, there will be some on this board who will hammer the old Six Million Dollar Man Show (just as they do BSG-tos (cue Starship Polaris)) but...hey..it was a hit TV show that ran circles around its cousin-remake in terms of sheer numbers of those who watched...

The Six Million Dollar Man was typical 70s TV. Great premise which turns into a weekly TV show to which it is barely related. Cool then. Cheesy now. I'd love to see it again in all it's glory.

And the bionic man would make a great summer blockbuster movie if done right. (The Jim Carey thing is not an example of "done right.")

Anyone know if the source material, the novel Cyborg, is in print?

I looked a few years ago and it was not. You can try Amazon.com to see if someone is selling old copies. Also, do some Google work and see if you can find copies transcribed online. I found some of the old Tom Swift novels online that I downloaded and read to my son. I'm talking the original stuff that was written back in the late-1920's/early-1930's.
