Where is "Star Trek: Typhon Pact: Paths of Disharmony" ePub eBook?

No Path of Disharmony for Nook

I can't believe it.....every other book is available, but not this one.....what a joke....guess I won't be buying it...thanks Simon and Schuster....or Amazon, or who ever. Hopefully it'll come out soon...I won't buy the PB version, I've converted completely to eBook.

Is there really a need to have an exclusive??

Re: No Path of Disharmony for Nook

The kindle format seems to work fine. You could always buy a copy via amazon.com...You could even change it to epub with calibre.

Re: No Path of Disharmony for Nook

The output is pretty garbage though, I always have to edit it, plus it doesn't create a TOC, and when reading over multiple devices (my phone and nook) it makes things much easier.

If I buy a book, I don't want to have to do the work to make it readable.

Re: No Path of Disharmony for Nook

Just downloaded my Kindle edition a few moments ago.

Why did you buy a nook? :p Kindle may not be fancy pants color, but it's also not back-lit and looks much more "real" -- and Amazon is a much more stable company, financially, than B&N.

Um...my Nook isn't back-lit, and I liked it much much more than the kindle when comparing the two. Plus the fact that Amazon pretty much forces their own format on users is rediculous. I want to be able to buy from other locations.

Not only that B&N offers free stuff all the time from their cafe and such if you bring your Nook in. I don't know how many times I've been able to go get free stuff from their cafe and sit and read any ebook I want for free while in the store (even stuff they don't stock on their shelves).

Plus I can check out books from the library which I do frequently. You can't do that with Kindle

Star Trek: Typhon Pact: Paths of Disharmony is not available as an ePub eBook. I cannot find it at S&S, Sony, B&N, Kobo, or Borders. What gives? It's already a day past when it should have been released. Why is it not available? When will it be available?

The fact that it's available on Amazon has me thinking two possibilities - mistakes or collusion. Either someone screwed up the ePub version, or S&S made a deal with Amazon to let them sell it first. Either way pisses me off. But then, I'm often inclined to believe the worst of Corporate America.

Huh, this is the only Trek book I've come across that hasn't come out on the day it was listed. I'm not to worried right now since I was gonna wait until after I finish Zero Sum Game and Rough Beasts before I buy it, but if it's not out by then I'm gonna be really pissed.

First you have to strip the DRM. If you are unable to do that, converting it won't work. Also, there should be no reason to buy it in an alternate format.

It's not always like that and it's not always garbage. I convert quite a few eBooks and they usually come out fine. But it does depend on how good the source is. I know I could do a good job converting this. But I should not have to.

^I doubt it. S&S' e-book department seems to be pretty independent from the creative personnel. In the past not even the editors could answer questions regarding eBooks.

But FWIW Dayton has a Q&A post regarding Paths of Disharmony at his blog, and he posted this there:

"For the e-Book crowd, today marks the date electronic versions of the book are available for different devices and gadgets (not all, I'm learning, but supposedly that's being addressed)."

I know its generally fine, but I'm really particular about how it should look...really anal lol. I hate spaces inbetween paragraphs unless its a change of scene and calibre always does that. So then I have to edit with sigil, which isn't all that difficult, but if I buy it I shouldn't have to. I know I could just buy the kindle version and strip it, its a matter of principle. You cant even get it at S&S.com

When do you guys get time to read all this stuff? My pile of unread ST novels continues to get taller and taller, having gotten totally out of control during "Mission Gamma".

Not to mention that people are stripping out the DRM of eBooks, and editing the formatting, so the books will be perfect for re-reading.

I feel your pain, Therin - I've been on a Star Trek reading kick since just before Christmas, and my main frustration is that there's so much more stuff I have to catch up on than there is time for me to read it (and that's with a 90-minute commute to work, each way)!
