Where have all the average people gone?

Ever wonder that?

Seems like everyone's kid is always an honor student, in the gifted program or something. If not that then they are the star of their sports teams and scored so many goals last game and the coach loves them etc etc.

It goes for adults too. Everyone either is a manager or manages something of great importance of some kind, went to a supposed really good school for their degree program, etc.

Where are the average people? I wonder if you polled people how many would actually admit to being average? I mean it is no secret that humans can be pretty egotistical. Most people like to think they have accomplished more and are more important then those around them. I really don't mean that in a mean way. It's just the truth.

Today I'm a little below average. I graduated in the bottom 25 percent of my High School class. Took 14 years to get a BS in Engineering. And never was interested in those last two stripes in the Air Force. Now I fix decks and porches (actualy hire people) for spending money.

Yep, I'm your below average under achiever 60 year old retired person.

The company I work for has vice presidents who have no staff. "Barb is the VP of Marketing" really means "Barb is the marketing lady."

And media outlets, especially magazines, don't seem to have many writers or reporters any longer: they have associate editors.

Well what one has to remember is that there is a difference between knowing something enough to pass a test and actually knowing and applying it in your life. And I would wager that the bulk of those "over achiever/honor students" know it enough to pass the test, but it's "soft" knowledge.

I'm saying that cause I see it a lot in parents that push their kids. They push them in the direction of the tests but they don't review the information or actually do much more than memorize and repeat it. What ends up happening the kid retains very little of what they "learned" and develops no foundation for problem solving skills.

I'd consider myself incredibly "average" in nearly all aspects of my life. I'm so average that I blend right into the background and no one notices me because I don't stand out in some exciting way. Granted, I would say my life has been successful thusfar. But I don't have any extraordinary qualities.

I'm very average. I'm just a supervisor, which means I'm one step up from peon. I'm almost 40 and haven't accomplished a damn thing. I live in the burbs, where all the houses look alike and drive a very common car.

Couldn't be more ordinary if I tried.
